Mountain lion seen in Lake Elsinore neighborhood

Residents in a Riverside County neighborhood are being extra careful when taking their pets outdoors after spotting a mountain lion prowling around the area in the dark of night. Shelby Nelson reports for KTLA 5 News at 6, Feb. 12, 2024.

We live at the foot of a very large mountain range, this should not be surprising. I've seen everything here from Coyotes to Bobcats. A Mountain Lion is not that strange.

Mountain Lion populations are at an 60-year high. There are over 40 in this area. Each requires a deer per week. As the deer run out, the lions will be in your yard looking for fido.

The mountain lions have a 6 mile territory radius and there are quite a few
