wonderful for Mama to travel down memory lane, she was clearly touched by the whole day. Pook had me laughing (as she often does...but 100% laughing WITH her rather than AT her) when she did the pig noise, then told you your attempt was disgusting!!!.......still laughing while i'm writing this :) the rubber trees have to be prepared and the latex is collected at night because it is too hot during the day and the latex will set. regards to you and the family :)

I have a five year old Triton 4wd dual cab utility like that vehicle here in Australia not quite as luxe as your one and it has been a dream to own and super reliable and great on long distance drives here up to 800 kms in a day. Always surprised how few people carry a water bottle to drink from when out and about filled from a safe source in rural areas.

It always surprises me how happy some people are living a simple and basic life. In western society our happiness is often controlled by the items we have rather then the life we live. But the more we have does not bring more happiness. Me I have learnt that material things don't bring happiness. Though I like my comforts I think I will live a more minimalistic life in Thailand when I eventually move there. As I prefer life experiences and being around people that bring positivity and happiness to items. At the end of the day I want to say I lived my life to the fullest.

The trappings of western life and what we "think" we need goes a long way towards the amount of misery and discontentment that we see there Gregory.

Good video Kevin enjoyed watching as I do all your videos. I have been tempted on a few occasions to rent a car when in Thailand but always change my mind just in case get scammed, seen a lot of the videos on the Jetski scam they pull in Pattaya and Phuket and that worries me in case I get scammed with renting a car as you cannot always check the small details on the car as it might have a scratch that your never noticed when checking vehicle when you return the vehicle and they say this scratch was not there before and get done for it, I am assuming the extra you pay for the insurance covers everything, i,e if you have an accident or get it stolen or any scratches or damage, etc. Even here in England when you rent a car it is amazing how they point out some scratch or dent that you would not have noticed.

That's right Baz. The additional cost removes any liability from the customer including the excess.

With respect to those rubber trees... it is amazing to think that a similar process of tapping sugar maple trees begets maple syrup after boiling instead of latex!! Speaking of maple syrup... you may have tried delicious candies made from maple sugar. Here is a little life hack for people who love natural sweets and living in this part of the world... in southeast asia we have a common type of sugar palm tree from which a really delicious common brown sugar is made. When buying a brick of freshly made sugar made from the sugar palm the taste is very similar to the much much more expensive maple candy. Of course... most sugar is made from cane and is cheaper but the sugar from sugar palm is not much more expensive and is more natural and much more flavorful!! You can find sugar from the sugar palm in most local markets.

Thanks for sharing! UD car rent is the best car rental I have experienced in Thailand. I bought a new Triton Plus this January at Mitsubishi outside Nong Khai. The comment you made about dont have any rubbish bins anywhere. I have noticed that not just in thailand but all over southeast asia that you are walking along with a drink or something you really have to go looking for somewhere to dispose of it. Seems like it would be much easier to keep the streets and towns cleaner if they would do that I dont know why they dont. Its a little more frequent in bangkok but out in any of the provinces you might not find one.
@TheIsaanFarang4 жыл бұрын
I spoke with a worker who collects litter in our local park which has recently been refurbished and has no litter bins. He said that they don't worry about bins as the workers will collect it al and recycle as they go. Strange reasoning, I know. But that's what he said 😶
