As for your question to why Hitler did not purge the SS in this timeline like he did with the SA is probably that especially after conquering other coutries and giving the SS the opportunity to recruit more Soldiers into the SS it had a way higher influence within Germany. Ironically the SS was one of the reasons why the SA could not get as much control as the SS would later on since the two had somewhat of a rivalry. And Röhm never held as much power as Himmler did in/before TNO. So even if Hitler tried to purge the SS it would probably lead to a civil war since as far as I know by that point in the TNO universe the SS made up a pretty big part of the german army.
