I love how clear your directions and steps are. I have been trying to figure out how to paint the fog effect in a mountainous landscape and have seen demonstrations but they are either so fast and don't explain when they are drying the painting or they are long and just don't explain well. Thanks a million!

you could also try using white gouache, dilute it well, apply, dry, repeat like 5 times.

You have some of the best tutorials. On how to paint with watercolors... This piece took me about an hour. Though it's all good practice. -- Thank you for sharing! :)

I want to send you a big thanks! I get so frustrated with watercolor painting. I get so impatient. I overpaint and throw the paintings away. I don't take the time to dry and wait from one step to the other. Your tutorials give me hope. And you have a nice, calm voice to add to the tutorial. I love your paintings, and I think you're a fabulous teacher! I want to follow you and learn more. Again, thanks! From Maine, USA.

Yeah, one thing you need to study with watercolors is patience. I am very impatient myself, so I try to control it too...

Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I tried this technique recently and had a lot of fun with it. Such a good way of getting better at wet into wet technique :) My favourite part was to dab in some pigment after a layer has been applied

Wonderful!... but how do you keep your paper from buckling? I dont see that you've taped the paper down... Just found your station... will be subscribing! Thank you in advance!
@EkaterinaSmirnova6 жыл бұрын
dcfan333 my paper is quite thick, 165 lb, so for the small format like this you almost don’t see any deformation. Any paper expends tho. I recommend to pre-stretch your paper (I have an old video on that), and you should tape it around with a water resistant acid-free tape.

Брагодарю за урок! А почему у вас бумага от воды не заворачивается?
@EkaterinaSmirnova6 жыл бұрын

I have bought watercoulor paper (240 gsm) but it always warps, even when I use tape to hold it down! sugestions?
@EkaterinaSmirnova6 жыл бұрын
yes, you can pre-stretch it. I have an old video on how to do it. Also you could use a paper pad (album) with sealed edges, when you paint it might warp, but when it dries it will go back to flat.

Yellow plus blue makes green, is you got to be careful. Probably you used a bit too much yellow for the background.
