I get creative with my route in Segment 10. As the trail returns to footpath but I'm still on my bicycle, I find ways to enjoy the areas around the MST, hitting the local towns and biking all around the beautiful Falls Lake, and Eno River. I even hike in to the woods to stay at some MST campsites. In segment 11 I'm happy to trade the roads for the Neuse River Greenway, visit with a dear friend, and connect with another amazing Trail Angel.

I have really been enjoying your videos. I don't live too far from the mountain to the sea trail. I need to get out there and do a little bit of it. Be safe. Can't wait to see your kayak videos

It's a cool trail! Lots of opportunities to do day hikes if you're just looking to walk a bit.

That pizza looked like the kind I like to make. I call them 'everything in the garden pizza'. I grow persimmons too but eat them when they're firm and crisp, like apples but orange. An over ripe one like you found, is sweet and tasteless but still full of vitamins, so who's to complain! I'm enjoying your adventure. It's great to see parts of the world that this senior New Zealander won't be exploring herself. Your changes of pace add interest too. Butt sympathy! Have fun wherever you are at present!

Thank you! Yeah, I love all the veggies and that pizza really hit the spot. The persimmons were quite sweet. I did enjoy them. I hope to explore New Zealand one day! It's on the list! Thanks for the butt sympathy, 😂.

I've followed your CDT, PCT and now this one. I like the content! I bike, hike and sea kayak. I'm curious what kind of kayak you'll be using. With respect to bike saddle issues, I don't think you were using biking shorts but they really help as will "Butt Butter". Once your butt starts feeling hot even just a few minutes off the bike helps. Rock on!

I'm glad you like the videos! Thanks for following along! I'll be using a sea kayak. I do have on a padded liner under my pants. It maybe helps a little? Hard to say. Thanks for the tips!

It was me...I was the other thruhiker at the campsite, lol. It was cool to meet you, and also to have another human to talk to. The squirrels were getting sick of my stories.

Lol. Yes, It was you. 🙂 yeah, same. I was so happy to meet someone else out there. Squirrels might have somehow arranged that meetup because they were tired of listening to both of us.

What most attracts me to this trail is the variety of landscapes, which you do a sound job of highlighting! So many questions, but...have you encountered many snakes hidden in the leaves? Keep rollin'!
@JeniferJourneys

Not too many snakes! I saw a few in the mountains sections, but really not many since then.

If you want to try a fun week long bike ride with 10,000 other cyclists look into the RAGBRAI bike ride. It’s sooo much fun. There is plenty of info out there about it. Two thumbs up 👍👍

It’s a blast. People come from all over the world to do that ride (not a race). It’s the world’s largest and longest running ride. Some say it’s Mecca for cyclists. There’s people on Uni-Cycles, Skateboards, Big Wheels… I won’t even mention the outfits some wear.

More like edible with quotes you've got to catch persimmons on the right day.

Very true. Although I'll admit the one Jenifer found was much larger than the ones I've found in Maryland.

I'm thinking of walking this section. What shoes would you recommend? What about drinking water? Thank you!
@JeniferJourneys
@JeniferJourneys 8 ай бұрын
Shoes are such a personal gear choice it is hard to make good recommendations. What's good for me might not work at all for someone else. Ideally something you’ve tested and know that you can walk comfortably in for hours. Also, make sure you have a good fit. Either too small or too big can cause issues, but I know I've suffered more in shoes that turned out to be too small. You'll be on a mixture of pavement and trail. I used trail runners for the whole trail, an older pair of La Sportiva Mutants. I carry a Sawyer filter for water and had lots of opportunities to fill up.

Was this the only section of the MTS where you can't filter/boil water? What was your strategy?
@JeniferJourneys
@JeniferJourneys Жыл бұрын
I carried a sawyer water filter and that is what I used the entire trip, including this section.

My wife loves permissions, I'm ok with them, just a weird "film" in the mouth afterwards. However, have you ever had a PawPaw? Those are delicious.

@@JeniferJourneys they're out of season now, but they taste like a magon, banana and pineapple combined. Consistency of a banana,.. They're worth finding (in my opinion)
Try this prank with your friends 😂 @karina-kola
