Mountains to Sea Trail Segment 3 High Peaks and Asheville Pisgah Inn to Black Mountain Campground

Starting at the Pisgah Inn, I have visitors! We take in some stunning sunrises and sunsets, yummy meals and enjoy the views the area has to offer. I hike through the Asheville area and eventually climb my way to the highest point on the trail, Mt Mitchell! I also have a not so pleasant encounter with an Asheville bear.

I really like your attitude and demeanor on the trail. Laid back and take it as it comes. Your lingo, vocabulary and dialogue. You sound like me. The things you stop to look at and share like flowers, mushrooms, snakes, spiders etc, makes this trip fun to watch. Those are the things i (we all?) go out to enjoy on their turf. Fun stuff glad i found your channel. Because i may never do any AT or east coast in my life. So much PCT , CDT, CT, AZT, Uintas, Sawtooth …. For me being out west.

No good adventure comes without the risk of being eaten by a wild animal. Also, props to slugs for being out there everyday doing the same things as snails, but without a helmet.

You hike through Grizzly Bear and Mountain Lion country out west, seemingly fearless, and you freak out over a Black Bear. LOL You are human after all.

Hah. I am far from fearless. You'd be surprised how much of my down thinking time out west was dedicated to how I planned to attempt to defend myself against a mountain lion should the situation call for it. Thankfully, these have generally just been horror scenarios I play out in my head. Until that black bear came right at me!

@@JeniferJourneys LOL. The scariest part is when other hikers catch up to you and say things like...."Did you see that mountain lion following you up the trail?" Uh..... NO!? LOL Then I'm paranoid like you were for days. I used to love soloing, but now I think that I would rather have a hiking buddy to share experiences with, and at least be a witness to my clueless death. 🙂

Love the videos. I feel the same way about Bears 🐻 I love to solo hike but I get nervous about wildlife that can eat me! Last year I saw bears in Segment 3 & 4. Stay safe!

Enjoy the MST videos. I have been section hiking segment 3 between Folk Art center and Mt Mitchell and saw 8 eight bears in three days (Oct 8-10). Unbelievable and unnerving especially since I was backcountry camping. I felt like prey out there.

I believe that is the black diamond stormline. Have been quite pleased with this jacket.
