I’ve been expecting those old pinnacle weapons to come back. They were a big reason they did sunsetting, but power creep has made regular legendaries as strong, or stronger, than the old pinnacles. Given how much hype bringing them back would cause, I've been surprised they've waited this long. It will be fun to see what the re-worked master of arms and magnificent howl can do in today’s sandbox. But, I’m still not dismantling my old Recluse (gotta keep that kill counter trophy in the vault).

One thing about the raid weapons is that the brave variants won’t completely replace the raid variants due to the differing origin traits. The brave one certainly looks good, but especially souldrinker will remain very solid.

Raid weapons are nice to see as these new versions, succession/forbearance is a surprise cause deep stone is still in game while blast furnace or midnight coup aren’t in game. Also curious to see how difficult the final shape campaign will be cause we’re getting easy ways to obtain the best guns in destiny, so how hard will the campaign be and how good will the new activity/raid weapons be?

I feel like Uriel's Gift should have been one of the 12 weapons rather than the something like Hung Jury. Uriel's Gift fits in with Recluse and Luna's Howl as an Arc Primary weapon. AND more importantly Uriel's Gift was THE Energy Weapon to use in the first few weeks/months of PvP in Destiny 2

It is VERY similar to the structure of the 30th anniversary pack, which makes sense with it being a last minute addition but even with it looking so similar the rewards look incredibly good, onslaught looks pretty fun but also looks like it could get fairly boring after needing to do so many rounds.

What's funny about reaching the ceiling with these weapons is that, to me, we have long surpassed that point. I basically haven't farmed for a weapon since Season of the Haunted and, during this whole past year, the only fine addition to my collection has been Scatter Signal, a craftable one. Yeah, there have been some niche weapons too, like Word of Crota, Song of Ir Yut and a bunch of world loot drops, which I'm never gonna target farm. Still, we have those main weapons and, as long as our abilities are this potent, we just need some rolls that enhance or facilitate the ability spam loop. Note that I'm not complaining about abilities at all, I'm just pointing out that weapons have not been the main focus of the PvE sandbox since basically pre-Witch Queen

To talk about weapon power and new weapons, I really hope they'd make side grades of weapons that are equally powerful, yet have different options for perk combos / weapon frames and things like that, rather than making weapons just definite upgrades that people feel "forced" to get While yes, that may cause a problem of "I already have a good weapon, so why would I get an equally/less powerful one", weapons, imo, should be sought after due to their uniqueness (though I agree this may cause some issues with the fact that we have so many weapons in the game, and exotics exist for this purpose) I hope that when they make new perks, they consider making something like "synergies" (sort of like enter the gungeon) which would create special effects when two specific perks are combined (theoretically speaking, might be hell to implement as a dev)

To be honest, I only see 3 of these weapons actually being meta relevant once they can be enhanced in Final Shape; Recluse will definitely be the best Void SMG once that gets enhanced, Midnight Coup will be best Kinetic 140 with enhanced perks, finally something rivaling Fatebringer (Timelost), Edge Transit (ironically) will become a strong burst heavy GL option with Cascade Point + Damage perk. I actually don't find much value in Mountaintop since blinding breech loaders are so valuable nowadays. Every other weapon looks to be either a side-grade to something we have now unless perks push it ahead (Hammerhead being close to Commemoration in power as example once enhanced but not strictly better) but this all entirely depends on the perks they come with. I do doubt they will replace the current versions entirely. I am not looking forward to SuperBlack coming back. This is definitely a bigger plus for newer or more casual players who don't particularly have the meta guns already, this will help them play catch-up for sure.

I think as far as weapon perks go the way forward would be to make them really specialized. Make an amazing stasis weapon that has great synergy with a stasis build but is really just average if you run any other subclass. They kind of did this with headstone and incandescence, but I think they really need to lean into it. I also hope the keep up the limited skins going forward, I think that's a nice touch.

Final Shape just needs to embrace new Archtypes and unexplored archtypes. A Fusion/Linear that fires a (proper) horizontal Line? Lean into more Rocket Pistols, we only have 1 legendary one. Datto what are your thoughts on the amount of social spaces we have? Xur's hoard, HELM, Tower, and now this place. I think there are too many now and it may be too cluttered to have so many common spaces two for specific activities (Xur, SHax) and then HELM for seasons and Tower for general activities and the only place to decrypt engrams. Engrams are annoying to go to one place and then other places just for specific post activity stuff.

On the topic of Mountaintop no longer being able to one-hit in PvP; I don't think any Special launchers can do that anymore, even with spike grenades. At least, my Salvager's Salvo no longer does after the PvP update. It brings people down to 10-20 HP, which is rather disappointing for skillshots.

Crossing my fingers for a return of Slideways on Succession because it's my absolute favourite perk to exist on any sniper rifle. It's the first thing I think of a truly "iconic" PvP roll for Succession. Slideways/Snapshot Succession is the only sniper that can match and even surpass the ADS speed on Mechabre in PvP, and I *love* slide perks on sniper rifles. They lend themselves for goofy quickscope scenarios and clip opportunities in the Crucible. Slide perks are also just great neutrally in all content as they let you easily load in ammo on the fly by just playing the game. They're the absolute epitome of what I love about goofy gun perks in Destiny and was disappointed when Slideways was removed from the pool and disappointed again when Long Walk was retired from Prophecy. Hoping to see another slideways/slideshot energy slot sniper in the future. I also actually prefer ALH + slideways on Militia's birthright to a slideshot ignition code in some scenarios. This is mainly because of a cool piece of tech I've taught myself where you can use the audible click of Slideways' activation to almost perfectly time a swap to & from a weapon to reset it. You can also use any other weapon perk that has HUD element (example: compulsive reloader) to perfectly time a switch back to your slideways weapon of choice to again cancel its reactivation cooldown. I highly recommend learning how to do it because it's a lot of fun and feels almost like a complex fighting game input.

Spinfoil insanity theory: The guardian dies at the end of Final Shape. You gain a new set of 3 guardian slots for guardians "born" after the events of Final shape. The only things account-wide are emblems and titles, the rest is fresh. So you have your "old guardian" that you can still play all existing content with, but maybe new things are limited to your New Light guardians.

I think the thing I’m worried about is the speed in which they nerf things that are slightly stronger is going to hit each of these and unfortunately they’ve started dragging the whole archetype down with a gun too.

I think, now hear me out, they might just possibly make new weapons, i know crazy idea, totally out of left field, but it might just be possible. im talking new designs, on par with the new armory weapons, with hopefully a new subclass that could have synergy with kinetic weapons perhaps, like bringing kinetics up to the subclass 3.0 level of synergy with new perks and origin traits
