That last day with you drinking coffee and the scenery was a friggin Folgers coffee commercial...damn. That last fish was a monster....nothing beats a fresh cooked campfire fish...cooked in ALUMINUM. You guys would kill it out there! I did not even know that the Winds had a Porcupine Pass as well. I’m hoping to do it again in 2024. I have a different starting point in mind. I grew up in Jackson. Spent a lot of time in this wilderness. Feasted on many a brook trout from those high mountain lakes. Clearest memory I have of the area was parting some willows trying to get down to the creek, only to be greeted eye-to-eye with a massive bull moose who could've stomped me where I stood. I quietly backed up into the bush and we went our separate ways.

What an incredible place to call home! I love those mountains! In my experiences, you really have to catch the moose at the wrong time to be in trouble (I suppose that is the same with all wildlife). I just jad my own run in with a moose, but that is a different story

Ended up doing a four nighter with spectacular views and tons of solitude. It was around McDougal pass in an area approximately between Big Piney and Alpine, WY. , if'n u want to check on a map. Great video of a great loop Travis. I've done this exact loop once and a similar loop another time, although both times I went clockwise. Never been brave enough to go up Porcupine Pass counter clockwise. I've camped at your first campsite twice and it's really nice. Also I've camped at the site you passed up at 37:22. Great view looking down on New Fork Park at 19:01, which is really nice too. I was in the Winds about this time in August. Did two trips, but only videoed the first trip: Jackass Pass - Texas Pass Loop. Really enjoyed this video!

I'll be honest Bryan, I was thinking of you when we were there! I felt like we might cross paths on trail! Seems like everyone must do this loop clockwise... but we're against the grain kind of folks. Initially we were going to a long loop and go down towards New Fork Park more, but that just leaves more unexplored country for next time!

I agree with @ursinidaho - beautiful scenery and light. More dogs than usual! I'd like to know more about them. that cute mostly black shepherd who always seems to have a stick in it's mouth, ready to play. And Timber with his funny tipped ears and un-sheperd-like face. I can always tell it's him, even from a long distance, by the way he holds his tail, waving back and forth like a flag! Best wishes to all the dogs and...oh yeah...to the hikers, too! Thank you for sharing another wonderful hiking trip.

Nicely done, we considered this same area this past August (15th). With limited time we instead decided to start from New Fork Lakes TH over Double Top Mountain to Palmer Lake then completing the loop as a 2 day/1 night loop via Palmer Canyon.
