Mountfield SV150 Petrol LawnmowerHow To Service The Carburetor

I have a mountfield sp454 it keeps going up and down in revs sometimes sounds like it’s over reving and then finally cuts out after about 2 minutes each time. Any ideas? The air filter base is slightly broken and has come away from the gasket a little bit. Do you think that could be the problem thanks

Ben B GAMING It could be but mine worked fine without the box on at all. It sounds like a problem with the carb not delivering fuel properly. I would follow these videos and service it. Also check the throttle cable. Make sure the drive cable isn't disturbing the throttle cable as well.!

Mower Man think you could be right I think it’s the drive cable interfering with the throttle. I did clean the carb but maybe I didn’t put the linkage back properly

Mower Man thanks very much this video has helped a lot, was just about to scrap my mower. Adjusted them cables that You showed and now it’s running so much better, it does have a bit of popping sound from the exhaust do you think there could be an exhaust leak? It is a bit rusty

Great video, thanks for posting. Carb off, good clean with gt85, reassembled and and started first time and ran without stalling but lumpy. Realised I put the gasket on the wrong end of the carb, unbolted and put at the front, fired up again and now runs perfectly. Saved my mower!

Got my SV150 running again after watching your previous vid, changed the spark plug and air filter and then sprayed it with some easy start, now it runs but with a lot of white smoke and kinda coughs/pops (even 30 mins later) and then slowly cuts out if I take it off the choke and try engage normal throttle. Will service the carb as per this video and report back

Good job. Put two dowels in the bolt holes, slide all the parts on. Then hold the whole affair up against the block, remove one dowel at a time and install the bolt.,Makes the job a breeze!

Hi mower man, i got the same engine sv150 on my lawn mower, but it have white smoke problem, and it leak oil from the exaust i think. What can i do for repairing it? Thank you!!

Check the oil level and if it's ok run it for 10 mins till it burns off

@@MowerMan thank u for the quickly answer. The Level oil is slighty above the normal. Can i take off some oil? The air filter is slightly wet oil. I will clean it.

Ettore Cavicchi you can but don't tip the mower up or it will get worse. use an extractor. I would run it for 10 15 mons and it will burn off

i would replace that bowl and seal instead of cleaning it. its obvious that stale fuel has been left there over the winter. cleaning a bowl in that state will only cause the fuel to errode it more and caquse more starting issues.

I just acquired one of these, but it has a primer bulb, almost identical apart from that though.. not really a fan of these SV150's.

I wish i had the same success doing Honda carburettors. Ive had to replace every carb on every GCV160 ive bought this year (around 5 or 6) as cleaning them just doesn't work. Tried ultrasonic cleaner, carb cleaner and soaking them in solution but it doesn't work. Also around 50% of the GXV engine carbs on the larger hondas dont seem to be very successful with cleaning and replacement is often only option. They are cheap tho for the hondas but just seems a waste of the old carbs which cant be saved

try using fishing line to get through the small holes in the emultion tube and clean gunk, my carb cleaner couldnt do what the fishing line did
