And hide the camera and everything else inside a lawn gnome who's eyes start glowing red when you step into it's vision!!! For too long have random people been afraid of lawn gnomes for no reason, I say we should make their fear rational! give people a reason to fear lawn gnomes!!! you could also put glitter or a fluorescent powder into a small confetti cannon and cover the squirrels with it so you can see which one it was...

We bought a brand new bird feeder, a long tube looking thing with holes here and there, really small openings for the smallest bird. Work smarter, not harder. The mouse is learning... how should not matter. Why go back in to the tight squeeze if there is nothing left to get? I'd say add an auto feeder mechanism to a trigger at the exit and see how many times he comes out and looks for more, or if he figures out there is a trigger for more and just goes back in. Or a button in the opposite corner to trigger the feeder. A different button to trigger the spinning on/off.

I am definitely curious as to whether or not a mouse would be able to remember a route if the maze is spinning. Would be also nice to see if it orientation based memory as well like when it gets to the end of the maze, turn it by 180 or 90 degrees to see if that affects its ability to solve the maze

It might be the editing and/or coincidence, but I found it interesting that when the mouse couldn't find a way through to the food (around 1:50) in one of the mazes it went out and looked through the top and then tried again. I wouldn't necessarily have assumed that it could find a path visually like it seemed that it did there. Also, your choice of music and sounds continues to amuse... 😀

I love your mouse videos. I think you will eventually created the famed “better mouse trap”. As far as red squirrels go, their the baddest little dudes in the forest. They beat the snot out of grey squirrels twice or three times their size, and do it with impunity around here. I came upon two red squirrels fighting from tree to tree. One got knocked off a limb of a large red oak near my forge. It fell , at the very least, 50 or 60 feet to the hard packed ground. It hit with a hard thud and bounced about two feet off the ground. Thinking it was dead or at least severely injured, I began to approach when it suddenly jumped up looking a little dazed, shook itself off , then ran up the tree and rejoined the fight. I’m glad they aren’t any bigger. They would just kick the door down , throw you out of your house and then fight over your stuff. Like I said, “I love you mouse videos”. The more you know about these invasive rascals,🧨🐀 the easier it is to thwart them.

I hope you'll continue the work long enough to answer your question - does the spinning of the maze disorient the mouse? It seems to me that you need to create some metric for measuring how efficiently the mouse recovers the seeds in the stationary maze, and then compare that to the same metric with the "spun" maze. Perhaps timing how long the mouse takes to find the cache of seeds - but you'd need to put the cache in random places to avoid training the mouse to find one particular spot. Or allow a training period before doing any measurements.
