CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Mouse sleeps inside the walls until he is woken up by nails being hammered into the wall.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Gore Verbinski, the TV-commercials director responsible for the Budweiser frogs, directed this Adam Rifkin screenplay about two brothers (Nathan Lane and Lee Evans) who inherit a string factory and a decaying country home after the death of their father (the late William Hickey, in his last role). After moving in, they learn that the house has historical architectural importance and is valued in the millions. However, they are constantly tormented by a mouse within the walls. They engage in cartoon-like combat against the rodent, but it manages to outwit the brothers in successive situations. Both live and animatronic mice portray the title role, and some scenes assume the mouse's point of view. The film is dedicated to William Hickey.

A harmless little critter who found his home in an abandoned place, that only became of interest to people because it had Brand Recognition monetary value. But they got more than they bargained for, as the little guy fought back, using every man-made idea of technological superiority against them. ;) Luckily, they learned in the end, that some "pests" only need a crumb from you to get along.

What makes a movie great is that it captures how the audience can sympathize and relate to, as you can either relate to the brothers who need the house sold to get out of a precarious situation and the mouse who is defending himself and his home from many attempts to kill him.

*_LOVE_* this movie since I was a lil kid, I'm glad to have found it recently in the $5 bin at my Walmart as having not seen it in 10 years. I love how in this scene we get to sympathize with the Mouse, especially when we see that he has a home (and a bed) to go to, he looks so *_CUTE_* cuddling up in his bed. But when the giant nails destroy his home, I'm like "Mouse, make these guys' lives as miserable as possible". As someone who never likes home invasions and intruders (thought I'd never experienced one before), I can wholeheartedly understand the Mouse's motives for fighting them.

Actually, that's the thing. Lars doesn't know the mouse is there. That part where he's putting the nails through the wall and they just happen to be exactly positioned to trap the mouse, well... that's just part of the joke.

​@@moatguy4471Well, consider that in order to see Lars coming, the mouse would have had to be able to see through the walls. It's a smart mouse, but it doesn't have X-ray vision. It may have made many holes in the walls and floorboards, but none of them were near enough around.
