So I just quit playing with it because I didn’t want to mess it up. Origin itself is installed on my MacBook.

some ppl here tell they have problems with transfer of apps and stability issues! try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps but choose the new external drive before installation begins! this should solve the problem!

@@AbhimanyuVenu yes. I figured it out on my own. first, download and install the software you want on your mac. then, connect your SSD. open finder and click on applications. then, copy the app to the ssd and then delete that app from the mac.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that having a hard drive directly connected to the motherboard will yield much faster speeds than hooking a portable one to Thunderbolt...even with an SSD. Now, this could work if you're in a money pinch, but I think you'll suffer loss in data transfer speeds.

To ensure all data is transferred to the external drive, use a relocation tool, manually move files, or create symlinks. Remember that using an external drive may affect performance and require the drive to be always connected. ☺️

Often external applications, like Android Studio will work better by reinstalling it instead moving it. So set aside all your files to a save folder and reinstall AS, you will get an option on the startup to use file directories, set this path to external.

Yet I would advise to have android studio on the main drive. As apps grow bigger, it can be hard to run. Also, one key emulator should be stored on the main drive.

Hello, I've a Macbook Pro 2019 with 250 GB internal, but I can't even install the software I need, I work on something that requires more. I would like to use my external solid drive as primary and I'm confirming whether to select AFPS or Extended Journaled. It would be to install OS X on that 1 TB SSD external device and also use it, not only to create the installation image (not only a bootable disk but for working with it).
