Okay I’m just gonna say, I think this scene is placed in an appropriate spot in the film. Because think about it, this taking place after the animatronics killed the robbers makes you feel a bit more unsettled and unsure about their true nature, whereas if this fort scene happened first, then we wouldn’t get the same whiplash effect as we do here, it would just feel too predictable. This reiterates that these animatronics are just the pour souls of children, and it honestly makes us look back on the scenes before and feel bad for them, since they don’t really know what they’re doing.

At the risk of incurring a sea of angry comments claiming otherwise, I'd argue this scene was very much needed for the whole universe. So much of the franchise has been grim-dark. A nice moment of wholesomeness like this is a welcome change of pace even if it was only a few minutes long.

This was definitely a breath of fresh air when seen in the theatres, and I loved every minute of the movie! It conflicts whose side to be on, as another comment had said, since you want Abby to be safe, but also want the children to just be kids again, despite the true puppet pulling the strings of their every move (bad pun kinda intended lol)

People may be questioning why Vanessa chooses to play along here instead of discouraging it, but you have to understand, she knows these animatronics are just kids that want to have fun here for a change. Plus, she probably felt like she had to play along, not just to keep the band from getting angry, but to also help dissuade Mike from thinking that they’re dangerous, as per her father’s directive. She only blew up at Mike at the end there because she learned that he was trying to get information out of the kids and that he was putting his sister in danger to do so. Like, I know people criticize Vanessa’s character a lot, but her actions really aren’t that inexplicable.

This scene really sells further that those big machines are children at heart and that something was just off about Vanessa. After all, she clearly was not happy about Abby being there but was willing to keep up appearances for Abby only expressing this once there were far out of sight of Abby. She also showed she knew more about the animatronics than she let on and was refusing to talk. Vanessa was correct in saying that Mike was obsessing over doing the impossible and needed to drop it. After Abby got hurt, Vanessa acknowledged that while she couldn't stop Mike's obsesson over the past, she made it clear that she was not going to stand by while he endangered his sister because of it. Powerful words there.

Looking back, this scene was cute, funny, and dark at the same time. It was cute and funny that the animatronics acting like kids, but it was dark because the more you think of it, the probably the first time they have felt happy in years, after the fear they all felt.

I remember when people disliked this scene but i think it captured the essence and sad parts of the games. In the games, we mostly have to play minigames to know the lore of these kids and even save the kids. I think this scene is important since it makes us empathise with the dead kids in these animatronics (Especially Vanessa)

Fun fact: initially Bonnie and Foxy weren't standing on chairs during the scene where Bonnie falls over, but were standing on Freddy and Chica. Bonnie's suit actor even shared a photo of the original scene on his Instagram. This was likely changed so the scene wouldn't be too silly but if you look closely at 1:15 on the left bottom corner, you can somewhat makeout Freddy's body where Bonnie would have fallen from.

This scene is so wholesome. It's probably my favorite scene from the film. You got to remember that they're just kids. And when they're not being forced to do stuff against their will, they're just little kids that can still see the beauty and wonder of the world just like children, even after all the dark horrible stuff they've been through, they're still kind and playful and just want to be kids. The true villain may have taken a lot away from them, but he hasn't won completely, because he hasn't taken this away from them. When they aren't being controlled by him, they are just playful loveable little kids that love to build blanket forts and have fun with a new friend.

People say this is the worst scene, but to me, this totally fits the lore. You see how it huminizes the amitronics. Not only that, but it's showing that they are kids. Which was in the games.
