This scene had to make people jump in the movie theater, you know something is coming just don't know what. While Jaws 2 was not as good as the first one, it still holds up pretty good in it's own right because of Roy Scheiders good acting.

I don't think a shark as big as the one in this movie (25 feet long) would've been able to attack him. A normal shark, maybe. But not the monster sharks in these films. The water would've been too shallow for them to get that close.

I am pretty sure that’s how most people see it, Atleast I do anyways, and the reason being why they shark didn’t try to attack Brody is cause it’s longer and bigger then the first shark, and the water was too shallow where Brody was to attempt attacking, if the board was further toward the shark maybe it would’ve tried.

There may have been some questions as to why a sequel to an all time classic like the original Jaws was necessary but this film deserves a bit more credit than it got . There are some good solid performances, a great score by John Williams, great suspense & some genuine scares throughout. Just watch this & Spielbergs movie & avoid the preposterous 3d & revenge atrocities.

Judging by the piece of the boat and the body being held on it we can only assume she survived the initial explosion from the boat. With the last of her strength she must’ve grabbed on to that piece afterwards but likely died from her burns.

What bothered me about this scene is that they play the Jaws theme and show you a first person view like he's nearby, stalking Brody. It would have been cool if he actually was there and tried to attack Brody unsuccessfully. Instead, he wasn't there at all and you get this jump scare of Diane's burned corpse.

Yes - there's a scene with Ellen Brody finishing a phone call at home as the chief walks in. She tells him "Matt Hooper is on a research vessel in the Antarctic ocean and won't be in radio range til next spring." Brody nods and says "Yeah I tried to give him a call."
