His dialogue is brilliant. Pacino’s monologues in this movie have a perfect balance between pure bathroom humour, sexual deviancy, and still an intense, emotionally profound truth. And that’s just great writing

This might be my favourite movie. And the way to tell what is your favourite movie doesn't have much to do with how well you think the actors acted or how good you think the script is, or how well you think the movie is directed. It's more basic than that. If it's on television will you stop what you're doing and watch it? Will you watch that regardless of whatever else may be on? By that standard, Scent of a Woman or Amadeus, or even Goodfellas (a movie I would never consciously pick as my favourite!) has to be my favourite movie. Do you ever find yourself wishing you knew the characters? That's another standard, which is incidentally why American Beauty was such a piece of crap. All of the characters in that movie were detestable.
