Why do all the movies tell the story of a mystery? Not one tells the true story of societal repression and homosexuality. They feel the need to add women roles even though in the book there is not one female character other than a maid who has no name.

Nothing at all. This version have Tracy's great acting. I like more the Mamoulian version and always will be the supreme version but this is excelent; next to former version.

Thank you all, but if MGM decided not to do this 1941 remake, then the Paramount film of DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (1932) would end up being sold to MCA (Music Corporation of America) in 1958 which this company bought the pre-1949 Paramount sound film library from the Paramount Studio and MCA's Universal Studios would have DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (1932) be included with DRACULA (1931) and FRANKENSTEIN (1931)!
