Daniel Day-Lewis is the real deal. He truly sees acting as a craft and an art. He doesn't hobnob with famous actors in glitzy parties or gatherings. Truly amazing man

What a remarkable actor. He was the perfect guy for this role. I know 3 hours is impossible to tell the story of Lincoln..... Daniel was so amazing and I thank him so much. I have read sooooo many books about Lincoln and the Civil war. So Daniel made me feel like for the first time I can believably put Lincoln in all those stories I read about. He is a brillant actor and I thank u Mr Daniel Day- Lewis

This dude is simply amazing. I can't say enough good things about his acting abilities. We're lucky to live in the same time as Daniel Day Lewis. He's a living legend of acting!

I was literally speechless,my jaw was on the floor,my eyes were bugging out of their sockets and I was white as a sheet,like I'd just seen a ghost-and for me,in a weird way-that's how it felt-like a dream that was coming true,getting to meet my very #1 fave president of all that I had wished for years to meet. History and this era was always my best subject all through my school years, I could never get enough,had an insatiable hunger to learn as much as I could about this great man.

When I first saw this film,I sat right in the very 1st row of seats,right in the center of the screen,and that opening scene-where he is talking to the soldiers-it made him so very real,so very human, a man with such a loving and caring soul-it was so surreal for me-that it almost felt as if Lincoln was right there in front of me,standing before my eyes,it was unlike anything I had ever experienced before-like the ghost of him was right there looking just as he did in life showing me his life.

DDL is a living legend of the arts. Best living actor and on a list of the top 3 best actors of all time. I think if we had an idea of what he goes through before doing a role or character we'd all agree that early retirement is a good idea. The research that he goes through and the strictness of Method acting is painful if done in a traditional way. He is a master! No one and I mean no one could of pulled of such a complex, melancholy, funny, and serious man such as Lincoln. His deliberate nature was something of a chess game that not many actors can feel. DDL pulled it off. F'in British actors!!!!

Well, I'm black and i just saw it. Daniel Day Lewis once again proves that he is an amazing actor, and because of his performance, i feel a greater understanding of who Abraham Lincoln was and the challenges he faced as President. As for there not being many blacks in the audience, I admit i noticed the same thing at the theater I attended - while i can't speak for every african-american, i think many of us have a hard time seeing slavery depicted on the big screen outside of their own homes.

For quite awhile I had a hard time trying to wrap my mind around stuff like THE BLACK PANTHER movement. But after I saw this movie-a light bulb went on in my head that basically realized that THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT AND THE BLACK PANTHER MOVEMENT and such were just basically a continuation from the civil war-basically fighting for the rights of African Americans,I wish now teachers would have just said that in the most basic simple terms.
@Guitarron2812 жыл бұрын
The most important thing to remember is that the end of slavery not only liberated African Americans, it also liberated the white race; that sin kept the white race in bondage too..in fact we were still in serious bondage until the civil rights movement began and continues throughout our lifetime..I do believe that the rights of African Americans are still being undermined today, therefore, our complete and total freedom has not occured yet...

If peaceful solution or resolution as Ghandi once said can be found and war can be avoided-then if it will save lives,keep people from being killed-then I think we ought to see if there are other ways other than having to go to war all the time-the only reason I'm not for war is-people being killed,I don't like the killing end of it,if Death can be avoided-I'm all for doing anything to try and stop or prevent it. Often wonder if Vietnam could've been avoided and what the options were.

After Liam Neeson dropped out, Steven Spielberg returned to his original choice for the titular role of Abraham Lincoln: Daniel Day-Lewis. Day-Lewis declined because he didn't know if he could play such an iconic role. It was Leonardo DiCaprio who convinced him to take the role after Spielberg told him that Day-Lewis declined. It is unknown how DiCaprio convinced Day-Lewis to take the role.

I think slave owners would have had a VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM with their so called "property" and the right to be able to do whatever they wanted to to these people,feeling it was their right to abuse other people and to have that taken away from them-I think it would have eventually become a VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM and violence in some form or another would have eventually broken out anyway sooner or later, so I do think we had no choice but to fight for the human rights of others.

Same color here. I adore this movie! I'm such a history buff to begin with. My only problem is that I didn't see it in D.C.
