I'm white, so I'm not going to speak for this movie without seeing it. I was not offended by the trailer, because the 'I'm nervous around too many white people' rings true for many of my minority friends. I live in the south, and most people don't step in to stop racial slurs or hate crimes unless they're 'your race'. His fear was very valid. He was around many older white people, who acted very oddly around him, people that he doesn't know, in a place he's never been before. If I was him, I would be scared too. I'm excited to see it to see what kind of social commentary it provides, and what kind of dialogs its starts.

Exactly, if anyone put themselves in that situation they'd feel uncomfortable or nervous, it's natural. It's one less thing you have in common with the people around you, and due to the differences in racial culture in our society, the effect is only heightened

Zoey Richardson I definitely understand what you meant! Your words were written so eloquently being that I live in the south & we just had an instance where a slew of RACISTS white folks invaded a bday party for a black child & threatened to kill everyone at the party! Not racist at all and also it's not a 'fact'. Being uncomfortable around 'x' race when you're not used to being surrounded by only/a large majority of 'x' race doesn't make you a racist. I have friend groups where I am the only black person in and sometimes I feel uncomfortable when out with them for a series of reasons. To name a few; > they drink way more than I can handle and believe in drinking to the point where you're paralytic. > we grew up in different cultures so sometimes communication can be misunderstood causing awkward situations. > They don't know much about black culture and sometimes ask ignorant questions. In my current job I am the only black guy here and often can't relate to their musical preferences, jokes etc etc and yh I do sometimes feel uncomfortable but that don't make me a racist. this film isn't about a black man being scared of caucasian people because they're caucasian lol. Please stop playing the race card when it's not necessary

I completely agree! Trailers can often be just as impactful as the movie itself and can set the tone for the audience's experience. That "Get Out" trailer was definitely a standout with its haunting music and well-crafted sound design. It definitely left a lasting impression and got people excited for the movie.

+Yung Milkshake Pause at 1:22, the file is about one of the black people missing in that neighborhood and it says if found take a picture up close to identify him. So when the main character saw that the "brotha" was actually Andre, he took the picture but it backfired. And the main guys friend is worried because all the missing black people are changing into weird workers that act white so since the main character is black he needs to get out of there because he's finding all of the missing black people.

Will be back after I watch this if this doesn't play out exactly how I thought it would after seeing this trailer. So upset. Post watch edit: Yep. Apart from the twist (which my dad called as soon as he sat down, mid-way with no context because - movie experience, it spoils you loads as is) it was as though I'd already seen the movie. Still a good watch but would have been so much better unspoiled.

@thisusernamenowtaken

TAmmem, me neither. A good thing I hadn't seen the trailer. There is a rule of thumb when it comes to US trailers: NEVER watch trailers for thrillers or horror movies, because the asshats at *the* *companies* who make the trailers insist on putting *everything* in the trailer, because "it shows *this* movie is different" but doing so actually ruins all the twists. Watching a few trailers for movies one is familiar with proves this rule to be true.

It was smart how the movie writers set you up to trust Rose-When that cop asked for Chris’s ID and Rose is defending him saying “you don’t need to see his ID, he didn’t do anything wrong” and as the viewer you think “good for rose, standing up to the cop!!” Only later do you realize that Rose wasn’t defending Chris, she was protecting herself- if the cop saw Chris’s ID, then later when Chris went missing the cop would be like “oh yeah I remember him, he was with Rose Armitage!” 😳 at the end I was like omg we thought we could trust her 😳

Just watched this film. Absolutely great stuff. There's so many run-of-the-mill 'horror' films that don't do the name of the genre justice, but once in a while you see one that restores your faith. This was properly creepy, and that's exactly what you need in a horror, not just blood and gore. I saw a review likening it to The Skeleton Key, and I absolutely get that... very similar premise... that was also one of those films that caught me by surprise when I first saw it... Orphan was another. If anyone's got any recommendations for similarly creepy films, then please tell me.

This trailer is the quintessential example of why you should NEVER watch a trailer before you watch the movie. Find a critic that you trust or ask a friend instead.

This is probably the most blind I've ever went to see a movie. I knew nothing about the movie except the short ads on tv (which didn't give away anything at all). It's a shame that the trailer gives away that the family is evil (they even give away that Rose is evil xd) but the twists are still hidden.

Long Vi that's also why Walter came running at him in the night. The grandfather used to be a runner who lost to Jesse Owens, which is likely one of the reasons the family started the whole thing of borrowing black peoples bodies because they saw them as athletically superior
