When I saw the title of your video the first film I thought of was Past Lives so I'm glad you included it! It was my favorite film from last year and I think about it all of the time! I also love the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice. It's one of my most watched films.

I started making my own _y e a r n i n g_ list on LB after this month's Cinebun Club theme was announced and I also have Amélie on the list! I only have a few films added to it so far but will share it in the discord when it's a bit longer! 😊For now I'll just recommend The Double Life of Véronique (1991), which Amélie was greatly inspired by. It's quite different but you can definitely see how the former was the blueprint. 💜💗💚 edit: yesss! one for books, too!

For me, the peak yearning movie is (surprisingly) Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret (2023) - Margaret yearns to grow up and figure out her identity as being part of a multi-religious family, while her parents are also yearning to figure out what life in suburbia looks like for them. It also helps that as an adult who read the book almost 15 years ago, watching it makes me yearn for more simpler kid times lol. BTW, If you like Call Me By Your Name, I would recommend Summer of '85 (2020), another artsy summer movie set in coastal France about two queer boys.
