The movie is great but the recap is missing some crucial details that i’ll list here: 1. The dead body in dunn’s basement is (later found to be) holly’s husband, killed by dunn cause he’s a priest, and holly’s husband told him that he kidnapped children in the past (The identity of the body is revealed after loki had his mental breakdown, he remembers the corpse had a maze necklace which he connects with taylor’s mazes, that’s why he went straight to Holly) 2. Holly and her husband lost a son due to cancer, which is the reason they’re kidnapping kids 3. Alex and taylor (the guy Who shot himself but doesn’t make any sense in this recap) are the two children kidnapped by Holly and his husband, that’s why they were creating false evidence The missing boy in the article was Alex or Taylor, i don’t remember which one of the two

But, at the end of the movie it's revealed that Alex was the boy of the woman who's son was kidnapped 26 years ago and for whatever reason they didn't kill him. So, he was a lifelong (almost) victim of the evil bitch Holly and her husband. You never know someone else's trauma.

Hugh Jackman did arguably one of the most intense performances ever, frankly he should have won the Oscar with Jake Gyllenhall whose performances amazed as much as the whole cast. Regarding Paul Dano, everyone talks about his Riddler's role in The Batman, but his perfomance is phenomenal in Prisoners. Ironically, his character is associated with Riddlers in this movie. That person was confessing to the priest he had killed several people, but the priest is bound by an oath of silence & cannot tell anybody what is confessed to him. One day the priest just snaps & kills the guy, hides him in the wall. That man is the husband to the old lady, they lost their son to cancer & as a result went psycho & kidnapped + killed many children. Jake & Brad are two people who had been kidnapped as young boys, were not killed, and lived to adulthood. They protect the secret of their kidnappers, probably out of Stockholm syndrome where the kidnapped emphasize + protect the kidnappers. The "maze" is the necklace of the husband who kidnapped the children. Brad is racked with guilt still however, and that's why he makes all those fake burials & fake torture boxes, as a means of coping with what he saw

@@karltonhoward8157 I think he came to confess to the priest about his sins of kidnapping children so the Priest killed him. It’s interesting tho because priests are under a seal of confession so he must have been drunk because of the trauma he was carrying after he heard those sins confessed to him and that he couldn’t tell anyone

I don’t think the priest killed the guy, I believe the guy committed suicide at the priest house in-front of the priest and the priest didn’t know what to do but put him in his basement. Maybe so the news won’t try to include him or think he had something to do with the kidnapping or his death or just plain fear!

When i first saw this i knew it was the old lady when Jake Gylenhal went to the ladies house whose kid went missing 27 years ago. I kept thinking it had to be a point for it then opened my eyes for another suspect which was the much older lady. The guy who shot himself was still on the table, but ruled him out because in movies they usually reveal the killer at the end. Great movie!

Im confused, why did the old passed out guy have a body in his cellar and how did the dude that shot himself connect to the case? Besides stealing clothes? But then why kill himself for that when its technically just theft
