@6:30 Homecoming is a big school dance typically a few weeks after the start of the schoolyear around October. It's less formal than prom but also more exciting to some since prom is usually seniors (17-18 year old), maybe juniors (16-17). Homecoming is open to all 4 grades of high school usually (14-18). Schools will make it a big event by decorating, having events the week before, or having a big "home" football game that week. Extra context I realized might not be known to non-US viewers. @13:35 Also yes, I was on a quizbowl team in high school and it's great for people who love competitive trivia (think Jeopardy the game show but for schoolkids). Everyone was playing Grand Theft Auto 2 instead, which had to be installed using this crazy hack with this floppy disk that bypassed the normal log-in screen since nobody could install software on the school computers normally. Man, I dunno what it is about school district IT people, I guess if they were any good they'd be working at an actual tech company, but they are really incompetent and the kids completely owned those systems and did stuff with them the adults had no idea about. We had the log-in credentials for substitute teachers, too, and used that for all kinds of shady business. The password was literally just "sub". Anyway, it was an educational experience in its own way, I suppose. I went on to study computer science in college and information security post-graduate. I can only imagine the kinds of things sufficiently nerdy kids get up to on their school networks these days. It's not like computer security has gotten that much better, but nowadays vulnerabilities are all listed in public internet databases along with white papers describing exploits, and the tools script kiddies have available are insane. Different schools do different things but it's almost always in September or October and tied to a football game. For some schools/towns it's when alumni come to support the current class and it's more for them than the current students. But for other schools/towns it's purely about the current class. The second dance is "Winter Formal" or "Sadie Hawkins" which is a dance where usually it's the girls who ask the guys to the dance. That usually takes place right before Christmas break. Lastly is Prom which is in the spring and is the most formal event (boys wear a tuxedo, etc)

I just want to mention that elevators are absurdly safe, at least in the US. In other countries safety standards can be really hit-or-miss, mostly miss, but in the US you basically can't die in an elevator. People only ever really die when elevators get stuck between floors and then rather than waiting for a proper rescue from a repair crew people force the doors open and try to leave the elevator when it's between floors. Most elevator deaths are elevator technicians, on top of the elevator car. The elevator shouldn't be able to fall to the bottom, there's too many redundant safety systems, but even if it does fall to the bottom it will do so without killing anyone inside. You're basically safer in an elevator than you are in the rest of the building.

In the comics there’s question about his strength, it’s said that he can lift 10-15 tons, but he is ALWAYS doing stuff that requires WAY more than 10-15 tons, so I guess he can lift 10-15 without breaking a sweat and then he can lift way more when his life or others are at risk, but Spider-man is strong as hell and underrated.

So happy Mary liked this movie! Spidey (IMO) is the best fictional character in ANY medium. At Peter Parker's core, he's so relatable because he is us: we've all been that young person struggling to understand our place in the world, making mistakes, always feeling like we can't live up to the seemingly perfect people around us. And, as is so often the case, Peter can't see himself as we see him: he's just as good as everyone else, and in many cases he's better -- he's an inspiration. And that's just the "Peter Parker" part of the equation. The Spidey side is amazing (yes, yes, "spectacular," too). Visually dynamic and unique powers, a colorful costume (with a mask that hides his ethnicity: we can ALL be Spidey under that mask), AND he makes us laugh! Mix in the second-best rogues gallery in comics (Batman gets the nod), and you have the perfect ingredients for a lovable underdog hero. To quote the ferry guy from this film, "YEAH, Spider-Man!" Anyway, rant over. I love Spidey. Feel better, Mary!

Someone would have a party who's parents were gone, there would be a garage band (in the 90's absolutely everyone was in a garage band), and a keg, and probably some drugs, and then you would hang out until whenever the cops finally show up to shut it down. I'd say there was at least one a month during the school year, if not more, but not really any during summer break. I had a car, so that was enough to where I would always get invited just because I could bring other people. Homecoming is a dance that is kind of similar to prom, but it's also tied to a football game. It's the 2nd biggest dance of the year, but where I went to school, homecoming was at our gym, where as we rented a nice hotel ballroom for Prom. So it didn't have quite the same prestige.

I grew up in Texas and was on 2 different quiz bowl teams (one for Beta Club where we competed at state and national conventions, the other a local league team) during my last 3 years of high school. Never went to a house party with more than just a handful of my immediate friends though, but we were all band nerds.

I really love the fact that they got Michael Keaton to play The Vulture, who played Batman in a couple of moderately successful (😂) movies back in 1989 and 1992...a bat and vulture...LOL

Yes house parties are a thing, basically if someone's parents are out of town the kids will throw a party, sometimes they get out of hand though and too many people show up next thing you know there's 100+ people there, then there are fights, houses get trashed ect, went to many when I was in high school, typically police get called due to noise ect.
@elevensuns68743 жыл бұрын
Why would the parents go out then.....? They would they that the house could be trashed when they come back, no?
@doctor83423 жыл бұрын
@@elevensuns6874 it doesn’t typically start out that way. Parents trust their kid, kid invites a few friends, word spreads, next thing you know there’s 100 people at one house, most don’t know the person and are ass holes and it just snowballs from there. Or there are kids that don’t care or want to move up in the social ranking and just throw a huge parties. Most of the time the parents trust the kids wrongly. My parents used to go to Vegas a couple weeks a year, I never told anyone or invited anyone to my house except a couple few girls ect. So it didn’t happen to me

House parties are 1000% real. I threw a giant one in highschool. They ate our leftover Thanksgiving turkey and broke our coffee table. I had to tell my parents I broke the table to cover. But the party was EPIC!!! I was the talk of the school for weeks. You should react to the comedy "House Party" with the 80s rappers Kid n Play and the actor Martin Lawrence (From The movie "Bad Boys" 1, 2, & 3 with Will Smith). Classic comedy.

Spider Man was the first "real" comic book character, he was a relatable teenager that had problems, didn't have parents, ect. This is why he is pretty much the biggest comic book character for Marvel maybe only Superman and Batman are bigger than him. All the comic book characters before him weren't really relatable to people it was like Superman, Batman, Captain America ect types. Spider Man changed the entire comic book world because of this,

Everyone always says they like Vulture cause he's just a dad looking out for his family. Kindof ignoring, you know, when he vaporized a guy and then was more annoyed by the fact the gun didn't do what he thought it did than the man he just killed.
@ericjohnson96233 жыл бұрын
The guy did just threaten to blackmail him though and it's clear from their interaction that their animosity has been building for years at the point. Toomes didn't intentionally kill him, but I also don't see why he would feel torn up about it when he did die. Far more contemptible is how he treats a 16 year old boy, of course.

When I began high school, we were informed that a student's college applications were looked on more favorably if they included participation in school-run activities, such as chess club, debate team, sports, Academic Decathlon, &c.
@rdevries38523 жыл бұрын
College applications aren't really a thing around here either though. If you want to go somewhere to study, mostly you just simply... can. No applications needed. Therefore, also no need for school-run extracurriculars.

Mary you make my day. Love the reaction. Michael Keaton was also BIRDMAN (2014) where he played an actor who used to be a superhero but IRL he used to be Batman. Birdman now becomes The Vulture, coincidence? Confusing? lol

Thanks again for the great reactions. ICYMI, this movie skipped a lot of Spider-Man's tragic backstory because there had already been 5 (FIVE) Sony Spider-Man movies before this one, so people were already familiar with his backstory because of those (assuming they weren't comic book fans to begin with). The third MCU Spider-Man movie will be coming out soon, and I think you'll need to watch some of those older SM movies before you see that one (and preferably before the second one too).
@deenormus19753 жыл бұрын
Nope we all ADORE Spider-Man - always have & Tom Holland is the best Spidey EVER. That comes from Stan Lee’s mouth, too. He said he’s EXACTLY as he pictured Peter being when he created the character. And Spider-Man was his favorite of them all.

13:35 High schools do contests like this. There is a weekly competition among high schools by a local television affiliate. There are collegiate level competitions. We have decades of Jeopardy. There are state spelling bees, with additional competition for national titles for younger students. We have bible quiz leagues for friendly competitions.

the end credit scene was like when the gym teacher tried showing the kids a video about fitness and he said i think he's a war criminal now , and in detention there was another video of cap saying, so you've got detention, so the end credit scene was just supposed to be one of the videos they show in high school.
