50*F is neither cold nor hot, in PA. Canada uses celcius. 50*F is 10*C. Canada is also north of the US with some variance because it drops south of some northern US states. The further north you go, the colder it gets. Thus, 50 is not summer in Canada. 50*C is 122*F - which is Death Valley CA temperature.

Yeah, haven't seen that since I think the mid 90's. Colorado doesn't have the higher octane because of the altitude mimics a little bit of octane. Higher altitude means less air in the engine and means a lower effective compression ratio.

Well done you guys and a special shout-out to Kyle's Dad for hauling that beast. We just sold our Redhawk class C RV with a Ford v10 engine. When towing the Wrangler, we got between 6-7 mpg. In fact, if you don't have the radio on, you can almost hear big red panting every time we passed a gas station. I'm trying to think what the target market would be for the i3 and a 2 gallon gas tank. At least my Volt, which I sold to get a model 3, had a 9 gallon tank. It had a range of about 330 miles when fully charged and the tank was topped off. You guys did an amazing video editing job considering you were separated for a good part of the journey. Coordinating Kyle's and Alyssa's videos must have been quite challenging. Super job.

I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! You get lower octane gas at higher altitudes because the air pressure is lower so engines are less prone to knock. The lower the air pressure, the less octane you need. Think of high altitude as a reverse turbo/super charger. I have an old Volvo 240 wagon and I live at around 6,000 feet altitude. The old Volvo is pretty pokey. But down at sea level it's much more peppy and a blast to drive (with sway bars installed). I'd love to get a Volvo 240 wagon with a turbo someday.

I'm impressed by that 26' UHaul V10 Ford truck! That V10 is overhead cam, so reving high (by truck norms) shouldn't stress it much at all! It's looked at being a highly reliable and long living workhorse gasoline trunk engine unlike the Ford Diesel that looked at as being a disaster to live with. With all the load you have in that truck and pulling a trailer, 6 mpg gasoline at 77 mph it seems like a pretty good deal. It was climbing likely 5% - 6% grades at 65 mph, those are the highest grades allowed on US Interstates depending on whether it's considered mountainous territory. And it can run on the lowest cost gasoline!

Wife pregnant in 1990 so I was exhausted loading it for 2 days. Stopped in Oregon for the night towing a Mercury Topaz. Both were gone when we awoke, stolen. A Seattle to So Cal move.
