That’s a great policy but it’s not always possible if your high value, irreplaceable items aren’t small enough to fit and be carried with you. For example, I couldn’t move my mama’s pride and joy grand piano in my car. Insurance would pay to replace it in theory but it was a custom made piano she used for church performances and what she played when recording a song with her favorite gospel singer. I’ve been in the military and moving every 2-4 years as a result for over 25 years now; military families know more about moving than anyone on the planet and sadly we know our household goods are going to be moved by the lowest bid company. Even still, I’ve never had my entire 25,000 LB shipment disappear, much less due to criminal activity. That’s next level and not at the forefront of anyone’s mind when hiring movers.

All these years later and I still think about the things I’ll never get back. The gifts and letters from childhood friends, my feather collection I amassed from every place I ever lived, my art work, my sculptures, my jewelry, my stuffed animals, furniture, things I worked and saved up for, gaming systems. This is so common in the moving company industry. A lot of the online 'retailers' pawn off the contract on another company, usually with a bad rep. That company can then also subject the customer to litany of unwarranted charges, fees, and nonsense including damaged goods due to unprofessional staff and transport. If customer puts up a fight to these unlawful practices, the company then deems the customer as a non-payment, and starts the 'we're holding all your stuff in storage' fiasco, thus accumulating more fines and fees for the client. It's a scam, plain and simple. Call law enforcement, and remember these guys change company names and profiles to evade legal repercussions.

I was a professional mover for over 10 years and was always the upmost professional service and people don’t really know that good movers are unsung heroes! I put so many smiles on people’s faces!! Just because they could trust me and all there belongings would arrive Undamaged and full inventory always accounted for! This is unacceptable!! I’ve came across horror stories!! And the workers aren’t the problem! It’s the corrupt owners and businesses!! Most moving companies don’t even have employees! And they get paid very poorly and survive on tips, those companies are usually the worst! And they are mostly all of em even the big names! So when they hire bums with no experience and pay them $10/hr what do u expect! And I’ve done all my moving in Southern California, but have all experience from military to white glove service! Much love to all you hard working honest mover!! Y’all are heroes!! Keep being you! God will bless you!

This is HORRIBLE :( I hired movers to move my life possesions from the East Coast to the midewest during mid-COVID height. I collect vinyl records 100 crates in total, as well as very high end furniture and i was terrified of the thought of loss, damage, etc. However, these movers and company were incredibly professional and got my items delivered to my new residence in 7 days versus the UP TO 21 days it could possibly take. I was so relieved... i can only imagine the pain these people are going through. I hope they get resolve

I've moved many times, including moves cross country several times. Every time I moved out of state, I've rented a Uhaul truck and hired local moving companies to help me load and unload the stuff. I've never lost any of my belongings. One time for a local move I decided it would be simpler to just have a mover use his own truck and that was a mistake. His truck was filthy and there was lots of junk in it. Also he had a real attitude and added fees to the bill that had not been disclosed. I paid it just to be done with him and get my stuff back. I will always rent my own truck in the future.

I am a 25 year veteran (retired). Now that I think about it, the few, very few, objects that I have accumulated over the years are very important to me. My war chest, saber, battlefield trophies, personal weapons are all safely stored back in the States by family. My sister has digitalized all of our multigenerational family photos which I urge you all to do (in the case of fire, natural disaster, etc.) I digress. If I was among the people who’s personal property was by any means illegally taken I would be quite f’ing furious. To the vets, it will behove you to contact your veterans’ orgs, especially the VFW. This happened to me when I moved from LA to Seattle. The movers who picked up my boxes weren’t the same ones who delivered them to Seattle and I was 20 boxes short! I had insurance, but the moving company wouldn’t call me back and eventually blocked my calls. My parents had recently died and I lost everything I had of theirs. I had to just get over it bc the company vanished. PS What they do is just change their name and keep scamming people, so be careful. I reported them, but it did no good. I never got anything back, nor was I compensated.

Things that are needed in the life I left.... Are not the same things that I need in the NEW Life that I now have... SO MUCH more EZY to just bring the hard to replace items that are valuable/sentimental with you (or put into storage to get when you are settled)... A New location... A New life... A New Start... Why not make it Less stressful...

This is not a one company thing - This is a country wide scam, I hired a company called “Mover Dudes” out of Florida and they are doing the same scam. They collect 2/3 of the money and dump your stuff in a storage unit and never deliver. The US motor carrier has jurisdiction and no other law enforcement will touch, ironically the Federal Motor carrier division is a civil group - they have no law enforcement power. We need a federal law change or this will never stop!

Muscle Beach Movers, I have known them for over 30 years, honest, hard-working, affordable and the ones who are loading the truck will be who unloads it. You can even follow the truck across the country because after loading they drive straight to where it is going. I drive for them on occasion and the last job was really cool, an older couple wanted their 2 cats a dog to have a first-class move from Calif. to Ohio, they had the run of 2 hotels over night and I had harnesses on them so they could get out and stretch at all the rest stops and the toughest part was turning them over to the owners in Ohio because we had we become so attached on our journey but they forgot about me real quick when they saw there Momma and Daddy, and it is said I dropped a tear but I don't remember that.

Yes this is going to cost you thousands, but if you want to be cheap about it, rent a uhaul and do it yourself. Also never leave valuables with a moving company.
