You know how Mummy loves rivers, canals & waterways. Remembering our trips on the Broads. You will find myself and Parsley on deck. I can see you buying a larger vessel in time. Wait till spring and waking up to the water each day. Parsley loving it. Keep my Prosecco cold for my vist.

You're going to be grand mate. I lived on a narrowboat when I was working in England as a Chef. It was loads of fun. I was there from 98 through 04. I happily come back and spend my retirement and remaining years in the UK if I could. Liking on the canals proves the quality of people you meet has nothing to do with their station in life. You can find every type of person and they all have a genuine love for their neighbor, even if they have a bit of a moan. As for getting ready for work, I had a small portable ironing board to press shirts and my chef coats. You're down to the easy and entertaining bits of getting your gear stowed and settling in. Unless times have changed too much, the neighbors will pop by to say hello and offer places to shop for your needs. Oh, and the gossip is always fun to hear. lol Just soak in it like a lad on your first solo holiday. I'm a bit jealous to be fair. Take it all in stride and keep making fun videos.

I nearly passed out when I saw everything in your flat, like squeezing a pint pot into a thimble but you’re organised. Really glad you got rid of that manky mattress just a shame you didn’t have time to get rid of it before you moved on. When the heating’s on you will toasty warm & never be cold on a narrowboat. We’ve got a tri colour collie Josie, she’s fine on the boat but like Parsley she doesn’t like people much either. We’ve got a daft as a brush black Lab, Ruby, she loves the walks & freedom, we’ve also got a wire haired terrier Woody, he’s ok when the boats moored but he hates it when we’re cruising so he gets a lot of fuss made of him. The Tiller People are good for tips & tricks, like you’ve said David Johns from Cruising the Cut is great, everyone will help if you’re in need or just want tips. I was born & bred in Manchester but we moved to Mid Wales full time 7yrs ago, we already had a cottage which was derelict when we bought it in 1995 but it’s lovely now. I’ve only ever been in The Midland once, mid 70’s, & it was a bit overpowering then but I’ve changed a lot since then so it wouldn’t bother me now, the staff were a bit hoity toity, I’m sure they’re not like that now though. What a superb voice, I hope you share much more but we’re not fans of background music when you’re talking. Lots of Luck Lynda & Steve xx

Just found your channel, I used to work at the Midland many years ago when it was a holiday inn, I think your tea room is my old office, I was Res Manager. I have been living in France for 10 years and looking for a way to return to the UK so have been investigating narrow boats for a while as I think its the only way I will afford anything and as I have no credit rating anymore over there it was an idea I had. Was looking at moorings around the country, love the look of the location of where you are so looking forward to information and details about that aswell.

@@HistoricHospitality i know when I visited 10 years ago before leaving the UK it had all changed there. Not sure if you are my old office or the old trafford restaurant, I know my old office was turned in to a bar where I went for afternoon tea. It is a fantastic hotel, I still have Barbara Frosts book on the history of the midland. I had to do show rounds regularly, can tell you where all the ghosts are, and not the ghosts of staff 🤣

So glad you got the mattress out, I'd not be able to sleep on someone else's. Parsley is beautiful & fluffy, good to have a mate on board. I'd prefer it if you lost the music in the background, makes it hard to hear you properly & really no need for it. Hope you both have a good sleep.

You will go from 'full steam ahead' at work to 'just bobbing along...' probs time ÷ 8 when you get home!😂 once you've cracked it, you will really start to benefit from being on the water. You need a fan for your fireplace, so the heat gets distributed around the boat. Also get some window breaking hammers. You be suprised just how difficult it is to break a window in an emergency situation. Esp when you have to also get a dog out. The window breakers are cheap& u can buy em for every or every other window, just hang em up next to em. (Velcro works well) You find em at auto supply stores in all colors, or online. Those at auto stores will have a seatbelt cutter on em, so yes, if you have a car, add one for your car as well. Glad to hear u got the boat checked out. I prob mentioned in my last comment to get some alarms for under the floor boards. They go off if you take on water. But hopefully as long as u keep the stern gland greased& the weed hatch locked, you be just fine. I know I wrote a long ass list the last time& was pretty critical - had more to do with you seeming a lil naive & it almost seemed like you got taken advantage off. So I wanted to make sure you understood just what you are getting into, before moving ... Anyways, I do love & I mean love your fireplace. Its absolutely beautiful. (This reminds me: have you cleaned your chimney yet?) Lol. No critique just making sure u stay on top of it. So in your next video you got evicted off the moring? Ffs. I hope you didnt pay extra for the boat to have that moring spot.. I guess the only way to find out is watch it, uh? Alrighty then. I guess see u there?

No finger lifting required 😂 I keep saying and not getting to it.. but going to do a spec and tech info episode soon enough. I wouldn’t dare put that rank mattress on the roof. People would think it was yours. Also because you are static, I’d be cautious about how much you share about your possessions etc. Even with security cameras and a busy marina, it’s still central Manchester at the end of the day.

This is the type of question I was expecting to come up. This is the problem with sharing your life online, every part is up for scrutiny, you will feel the need to justify and you will feel judged. Parsley is 12 so is used to your routine and is obviously thriving on it. Don't feel the need to answer every question, especially if they're invasive or judgemental. Great vid btw

@@HistoricHospitality The countertop across from the sink could be your prep area. I put my knives on a magnetic strip on the wall if that’ll help you with space. I can’t wait until you get it decorated to your liking. Good luck!
