The high desert of New Mexico was a great choice for a base camp! Lots of sun, doesn't get too much snow and the summers are somewhat "mild" as compare to other parts of the southwest, plus there is a ton of places to see and explore.

The guys that delivered your tiny home are amazing. It’s always inspiring to see people overcome challenges and fears. As a mother with kids about the same age, I wanted to give them both hugs and tell them I was so proud of them!

Wow!! When I first watched your channel, Nate, you seemed like this typical San Francisco ambiguous techie (not sure of the techie part) with no allegiances, no history, nothing to pin down. I was shocked that you were from MA, which usually means the polar opposite & when you & Shannon finally hitched your wagons to each other; you both showed such a love for life on this earth. More than any channel I've seen, you seem guided to a beautiful full life-for your own love of life; not views or content; but for true love of the things you know.

Congratulations on this new adventure.

You need lots of firewood, several propane tanks, a propane heater for each cabin, a decent sized battery bank, an inverter generator (2kw), many liters of petrol for the generator, multiple long extention cords and lots of water for drinking and showers. Being off grid means hauling a lot of supplies to your cabins on a regular basis. Edit: If you can afford it, I would have bought a big shipping container for all the supplies you will be needing. It can double as a work shop before it gets too full of stuff :-)

I've been watching your show since you were driving around in the very first Element and I can only say it keeps getting better. The best thing you've done is find a really good woman to share your life, and now you've even put down roots with the very first home you can call your own. Congratulations on both! I'm looking forward to whatever adventures await you in the future and lots more videos to watch.

Part of my family is from New Mexico, southern NM (Silver City, Mimbres areas). It's beautiful there, I remember spending a few years growing up there, we'd go foraging for piñon (pine) nuts and find real turquoise everywhere on the ground! It was the beautiful skies that I remember most. My brother and niece still live there. I need to go back and visit.

It's a beautiful area with gorgeous views. You'll get 4 real seasons up there! That water tank is generous for van dwellers but perhaps not for static living. Perhaps there is a local service that brings a tanker truck to rural homesteads. From the landscape I wouldn't expect a lot of rain up there. Looks like you might be above 5000' elevation so at least you'll get snow which can be harvested for water. Oh! Those views! I'll bet I am not alone in being excited to see what you do with it!
