You will find in this video there are two things to do in Charleston, SC, specifically in the historic district, that will help you get acquainted and will make living in Charleston the best that it can be.
First, you should book a walking tour. There is so much history here in South Carolina, and understanding Charleston and it’s culture really should start with a good history lesson.
Secondly, you should take a bicycle ride and give yourself a good tour of the area. I have been living min Charleston since I was born, and I almost forget how beautiful it is until I take an hour and tour around on a bicycle.
Many people ask me where the best neighborhoods in Charleston are, and that is a tough question to answer.
I start by asking the question, what is important to you and your family? Is relocating to Charleston driven by schools? Do you need to be close to the Medical University of SC? , Are you thinking about Charleston waterfront property?, How close would you like to be to Downtown Charleston?
The good part about living in Charleston is that it does not take too long to understand the layout of Charleston. The Ashley River and Cooper River meet at the tip of the Downtown Peninsula at the battery, which essentially forms the Charleston Harbor. This helps make the city easy to understand because you can compartmentalize how Mt Pleasant for example, contrasts with the parts of town.
There are also many different opportunities here. Working in Charleston is very desirable because we are on the coast, and the cost of living here is still reasonable. With that said, depending on your expertise, there are many jobs in Charleston.

Feels lived in and lots of water around. www.natwallen.com/james-island-homes Johns Island Rural but can be close to town. Second largest island on the east coast (next to Long Island). More greenspace, less developed. Traverse this area to get to Kiawah and Seabrook. www.natwallen.com/johns-island-homes West Ashley Similar to James Island but a much larger area. Also considered pretty central to get to the airport, Costco and things like that. Older, with new on the outskirts. www.natwallen.com/west-ashley-homes These are the areas I recommend if people typically are interested in seeing water and being on the coast. Once upon a time, Hampton Park actually had a small zoo. But the animals were all in small cages, not well cared for, so sometime in the late fifties or early sixties it was taken out.
