It may also be worth noting that the base is the home of the Army Signal Corps. Large ordinance is almost non-existent compared to other bases around the country. Thus, no issues with noise if you live closer to the base.

For the most part, no, it is a quiet base, but when they do have their drills they can definitely be heard. Lol I live right outside the base.

Enjoy what you have. When I was stationed there in 1966 there was one snack bar and one PX, and my barracks was built during WW2 Also I was making about $100 a month. Thank you for your service!

Is now a good time to buy?

In our area, yes, it is. Home prices and rental rates are on the rise, and while many are waiting for interest rates to drop or for a housing crash, that isn't a viable strategy. Despite inflation, the market is thriving, making it unlikely for prices to decrease anytime soon. The longer you delay, the more equity you miss out on, and the less affordable homes become.

Augusta GA in general outside the base is a slum, and the governing bodies are corrupt as all hell.

Interesting, it would be nice if Americans could have privilidges like social healthcare or what you get from the VA. But Americans dont get.
