My wife is from Greenville. Her parents still live there. We been together 30 years so I've seen the changes and growth. We have land out by table rock but live in Miami. The prices are going up fast. Travelers rest has gone thru the roof as well. But it's still an awesome place.

Greenville native here....everyone complains about traffic & crime & the infux of transplants from other places, but there's a reason why everyone is flocking to Greenville areas....it's sad to see the constant building & endless traffic, but I love Greenville....my family has deep roots in Greenville & i will probably never leave here

I live just outside of Greenville but I travel to and through Greenville and the upstate area mostly for my work, (photography). You hit on everything we fuss about while we're driving Lol! My husband is a Greenville native and I'm a transplant. We wouldn't trade living here for the world (and I have lived in SOOO many places). I'm confused, everyone wants to move here but complain when you do. Yes, driving is crazy because we didn't have as much traffic. We are aware of the lines and we adhere to them when we're suppose to. From Anderson, Greenville to Spartanburg we are country and love it! With all these people moving here, the beauty is leaving. I know what I'm speaking of. Born in Greenville raised in Taylors-Greer area. Change is good but not when it removes the beauty that was breathtaking.

I've lived here in South Carolina since 1975! The drivers are bad for two reasons, 1. Transplants and 2. There are the country folk who like to drive down the middle of the road! When I moved here, you could drive down Greer on Sundays and there wasn't any traffic! Now it's bumper to bumper! You do have to be careful where you live because we do have the occasional flooding, especially during hurricane season! It's getting way too expensive to live here for us! I'm on social security and my friend is about to be. We can no longer afford the rent! The street festivals are fun and many! I love the street music!

I myself grew up in greenville south carolina all my life , once I hit 17 , I moved way up in the mountains away from civilization , don't like downtown greenville, woodruff rd , pleasentburg drive , Lauren's or haywood rd. The rds are awful , and another thing about us south carolina people can't drive , a lot of them can't, it's bad when I'm gitting tail gated driving in the right hand lane doing 45 mph posted speed limit , people are always on that dang cell phone , or not paying attention at all , people driving through school zones busting the speed limit , want get over for emergency vehicles . The traffic sucks , all the dang building that's going on is ridiculous, these are the reasons I moved up into the mountains away from all that crap.

The incompetent DOT doesn't have a clue what they're doing even I-85. Please mention the traffic lights that aren't even timed. You go from one red light to the next with people running the red. Beware these people think it's nascar and are not even safe. Accidents happen every day. A traffic reporter said these people can't even drive when it's dry.

Glad I bought my house 20 years ago . It was a residential neighborhood that had few houses , and then a building frenzy started .. Homes that were affordable 10 years ago . Some have doubled and even tripled in value . I couldn't afford to rent a house like mine now . I have been coming to this area since 1964 because this is where my mothers side of the family is . Lived in DC till 91 .. Yeah the traffic is getting worse , Then I think about when I went back through DC .. Now that's insanity !! . I remember when Greenville was a blip on the map , Now it's Mini-Atlanta .. I like this area . Crime isn't too bad , but it's on the increase . .

I read an interesting stat the other day that said, “Greenville is 15.3% less expensive than Asheville. Greenville housing costs are 34.6% less expensive than Asheville housing costs.”

I'm coming down to visit the area in Sept. I've been looking at Greer, Taylors and Travelers Rest and North Greenville, anything close to Paris Mountain really. I've been doing a lot of research about the area as I'm looking to move away from New Jersey. Can't stand what they've done to NJ, hate everything about it, even though I'm from here with 5 previous generations. Most of my family have moved to the Carolinas and Florida, and I'm ready to as well. Greenville seems like it's the place for me.

I might be moving to Greenville within 8-9 days. I just have to see a few places there. Never been to the town. My introduction to SC has been Columbia for the last 6 months, but I have a feeling Greenville might be a better fit for me.

@@thetattooedagentsc I will say that Greenville seems more accepting to me, Columbia seems more deep south even. Its not progressing as fast I don't think to be honest. Columbia might be moreso say next to its surrounding cities and even with Augusta, that could even be debatable. At least a tie with maybe even Augusta having the edge but I'd say quite comparable.. they did however have James Brown and Hulk Hogan come from Augusta. Columbia wins over Orangeburg and Florence I'd say for sure though so it lags no doubt, esp considering it has a nice skyline.

Justin, I can’t say much about Rock Hill because I’ve only visited that area once and it was back in college. Greenville has been my home for 20+ years so I’m going with the Greenville/Upstate area all day. I think the best thing to do is visit both areas. Rock Hill is a little under 2hrs from Greenville.

Rock hill is a dump. You have to go to Charlotte for any type of fun or recreation, property crimes are high, it’s just blah.

In 2019 while visiting with my husband I had a major spiritual experience in Greenvile the day before I left that showed me I was HOME! After that Covid arrived and I began traveling here after November 2020 for 10 days each month . I drove 14 hours alone joyfully to attend to clients I stabilished in here .

Bad SC roads are because of the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston ...state spent all their $$$ for years on it...and we all suffer. Only state with 2 lane I-95. And the drivers...that's all the transplants fault. Yankees move to both Carolinas and the first thing they do is complain about drivers...25+ years ago before they all ran from the North that wasn't an issue...they simply brought their issues with them...but they've been good ppl for the most part.
