Are these CONS enough to keep you away from Houston?

My Husband’s company will be moving to Stafford from Rancho Cucamonga, California in the Fall this year. We will be going to Houston in the next month or so to go check it out since we’ve never been. The traffic won’t be a problem for us since we’re from Cali where traffic is a NIGHTMARE, but what does scare me is the flooding. Hanks for sharing this info, great video.

Flooding is a serious concern in almost all parts of Houston and burbs. We’re just not set up to handle heavy rains at the moment. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

I was wondering if the auto insurance in the home insurance is expensive in Houston.
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
Insurance here is definitely not cheap 🥴. Houston is such a commuter city though so I can understand why auto insurance is as high as it is. Especially if you live in the burbs and work in the city like we did when we first moved here, you’re going to pay a lot for that commute in my experience.

People have to start getting used to seeing tints near there neighborhoods because theres a wealth and poverty gap that is getting bigger unfortunately in the urban areas .
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
It’s very apparent here. Gentrification is definitely real in the City.

I am planning on moving to Houston but I’ve been thinking about some suburbs of Houston . How are the suburbs?
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
The suburbs are great. Many are master planned communities that have almost everything you’d need. They’re just not Houston. If your life and career are in the City and you live in the burbs you’ll have to get used to long commutes. Which suburbs were you considering?

@@aaronlathan I am actually working on getting my real estate license . I have been thinking about Sugar Land , Katy and Pearland so far . I’m not that much of a fan of driving too far to get where I need to .
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
That’s somewhat hard to avoid if you’re living in any of those places 🥴. Anything outside the beltway has the potential to be rough on the commute if you need to be in and out of the City. Katy would be the worst of all listed.

@@aaronlathan what areas would be good for a single women that’ll be doing real estate when I plan on getting to Houston next year?
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
Depends on your lifestyle. I prefer to be in the mix so if that’s you I’d say find somewhere that fits your budget in the loop or hugging the loop. My clients tend to look all over so it helps to be centralized. If you’re a fan of the pace of suburbs and don’t mind a commute really any of them are a good choice. Where are you moving from?

I cant lie those 2-4% property taxes terrify me
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
It can be a doozy if you’re coming from a more expensive market with lower taxes. But on the average you get what you pay for. I’ve got a few slots over the next few days if you wanna run through your options on a quick call. calendly.com/myagentlathan/client-consultation

I was wondering what you thought of the super aggressive drivers in Houston? Evidently nice people ...with not so nice driving habits.
@aaronlathan3 жыл бұрын
A 4 way stop is one of my least favorite occurrences in Houston lol. Love the City but people really can’t drive. Don’t even get me started on the actual road rage that occurs here too 🥴.
@JohnSmith-qp4bt3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronlathan understood! Yes, I’ve been living here since 2013. Already four collisions with distracted drivers bumping into me. Two of them hit-and-runs. According to the body shop where I got my car fixed half of all vehicles they repair are hit-and-runs. And they also said that a third of Houston’s drivers don’t have insurance. And then the Wild West style shootings during road rage...
