I live in Northern Idaho and have almost an acre of land as do most of my neighbors. One thing you should mention is that if you live a ways out of town and there’s a medical emergency, that can be a problem. I’m a senior now and in good health but at 82, how likely am I to have a heart attack or something else that’s serious. Probably very!!!You never know. But I love my little town and hate the city so here I’ll stay until God makes it obvious that it’s time to move closer to my family. Good video with lots of great advice. Thank you for alerting people of what they shouldn’t do. Also, I should also add, a person moving up north should invest in a good generator because we have been known to lose electricity when there’s a snowstorm.

We were city slickers that moved from "South of LA" to 20 acres in a house off grid on the side of a mountain. Not really totally aware of what I was getting myself into, but I was determined to make it work, damn the torpedos and all those that thought I was nuts. I have learned so much. 400 feet above the river, with great views, it has been totally worth it. There hasn't been a minute that I wished I was back in, ah, well, never mind. Just dove in and figured it out. Not for everyone, but I wanted an adventure, and I sure got one.

Another to add is stay off active logging roads unless you have a cb and know how to use it. Most people don't know they are "no fault" roads. This means that if I crash into you in my log truck, I'm not responsible for any damage to your vehicle or you.

I grew up here in the 60's and 70's. (Yes I am old.) I moved to California in 1990 and came back in 2019. I even had a little bit of culture shock when I came back as I forgot some of the things you mentioned.
