We have moved into a new flat in London and here is our little journey about it. I can't believe it's our 8th move in our 10 years of being married. We are now looking for our own place to get and renovate - enough moving for us...haha

My husband and I recently bought an apartment in NYC. Moving was a breeze since we had less then 10 boxes to move plus a sofa, bed, table and dining chairs. Having minimal aesthetic is not the same as a minimal life style. You do realize that when you move.,

It's the best strategy :) when we moved to bigger spaces with more storage space we started accumulating stuff and now that we have less storage it's so obvious that we don't even need most of this stuff.

I have a rule. When we are moving and I find things in the storage place, that I haven't used at all of that period we lived in that place, I donate or give away. My husband is not a big fan of that and by now, he has learned. He has lots of football stuff (he is a big fan) so he takes some tshirts or supporter scarf out at least once and takes a picture (with a date and time) so he has proof of why those have to move along with us.

New place looks lovely! Don't feel the pressure to own nothing or be super minimalist, life happens and so does accumulation. Everyone expects people on social media to live carbon balanced, extremely healthy, perfect everything lives, that's just not real life. Donatella versace said in an interview 2 years ago that she wish minimalism would go away. Hoarding definitely is not healthy, but also trying to live with nothing doesn't make sense either. We're currently moving and I just really want you to know that every time you do something like use a company that uses recyclable/reusable products or talk about things that are good for you and your mind, you inspire people to do at least 25% more for themselves and for the planet. Even if your audience can't or won't be as careful as you to save our planet or to take self care as seriously as you do, they will be a little more careful. Mimi, if you buy a fixer upper you have the opportunity to do structural shielding treatment for harmful Electro Magnetic Fields. This is what my husband and I plan to do. If you haven't started reading about this topic yet, you can start with Mercola's new book called "EMFed" and go from there. We also hired the company, Shielded Healing, for an assessment and used their tips to pick our new rental. The big tip for when you're looking at homes you might want to rent/buy seems to be to use an EMF meter when you are looking at homes and make sure there are not magnetic fields because most of those types cannot be shielded. In NYC I found many apartments with none and some with super high readings! The meter I have seems to be one of the good ones, made in Germany and not too expensive. It's the ESI 24. We were in a sublet that we realized had magnetic fields where the bed was located and I was waking up with horrible night sweats every night and after moving to our new long term rental that has none where the bed is located, the night sweats stopped completely. In our rental we are going to go ahead and invest in the special shielding paint and underfloor metal material for the bedroom and place new wood floors on top of the ones they have. We will probably also need to sleep under a shielding fabric canopy to get our readings down to the German regulation standards that are considered safe for where you sleep, but we love NYC and we are not going to give up on our efforts to have a healthy life here! Long term I hope we can all go back to safe wired internet connections, I'm an optimist so I think it can happen! Here on the Upper East Side there are some 5G towers right outside my window pointed at an Elementary School so it's such an important topic.
