Yeah, these videos are like nothing I’ve seen anywhere else. Derek, dude you’re on to something. For those folks really considering a move to Hawaii, this is the kind of real estate video we need to see. Anyone can show the inside of a home. It’s the everything else you and Mahe do that makes these videos unique and frankly, hard to stop watching. Great job! Aloha and Mahalo for sharing with us.

Mahalo for your feedback, Juan. Our focus is on providing the most amount of value to people like yourself. Honolulu is a big area and Waikiki is the most recognized part, so we most definitely plan on doing a Waikiki video. Next in the Honolulu video series is Kaka'ako. Do you have a timeline for moving to Oahu?

I remember when Hawaii Kai was a large fish pond. The vast pond on one side and the sea on the the other side of the road. I used to ride the bus (Kuliouou bus line) to the end of the line and hike to Hanauma Bay. I took a short cut over the hill instead of following the road.

Interesting video! You're obviously a very good salesman. I live on Molokai. This, too, is a wonderful place. Homes are cheaper here. Food prices and anything else that's brought in from off island (via Young Brothers and/or Kamaka) costs more money than elsewhere in Hawaii. But Molokai No Ka Oi! Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Hawaii.

Thank you for telling the honest truth about Hawaii. It definitely is not the Hawaii that we grew up in the '60s and '70s. Most of the beauty is still there, but who can afford to live there. Have you been to Fresno? We have some of the best schools around, and the weather is great. I just couldn't see myself working 2+ jobs just to make the mortgage payment.

Another fantastic video. Great to see this area again, as I haven't been since before the dreaded covid. Many years ago I used to enjoy eating at the Swiss House just before Hawaii Kai for dinner. I would like to have macadamia nuts at those prices. A little can on the mainland is twice that, and having been in Hawaii, I have to get Hawaiian macadamia nuts. I'm not getting Planters. I never see Kona coffee in my area, having only seen a couple of places serve it. I used to hear "flip-flops" all the time, but then I was on post and hearing it from non-locals. For many years, I thought you could only see Molokai from Oahu.

Thanks Derek, this was a great video. I think drone shots are great for general perspective, but they can easily be used too often which makes it easier for viewers to lose focus…there are lots of 4K KZbin drone channels of Hawaii and they’re all boring. I know that I prefer that you continue do what your mostly doing, which is simply chatting about the neighborhoods from a “local’s” view. I wish I could move to Hawaii faster than I’m planned to but thanks again for the videos…

I respectfully disagree. The drone shots are fantastic for establishing the overall area/neighborhood that he's describing.

Hello again, Dan! Aerial footage (and B-roll in general) is really a matter of preference, isn’t it? One style cannot accommodate all tastes. That’s why we always ask for feedback and keep offering slightly different styles each video.

One of the cons of moving to Hawaii that I actually took into consideration was that a lot of my Asian brothers showing up on these Hawaii videos looked shrunk up in their shirts. I don't know if it was because men like a roomier shirt there, but with the tan and sometimes bad haircuts, it looked like the islands dry up Asians like raisins. I was starting to think maybe people can't afford the calories that we get on the mainland, because of a higher cost of living in Hawaii. Seeing you look properly filled out makes me think I can pull that negative from the ledger.
@nicolabarnett63333 жыл бұрын
Aloha Derek, we’ve got a question. The view is important to us. We love a “real” sunset view where you can see the sun setting over the horizon. Kinda like what you get at Sunset Beach and Waimea Beach near Haleiwa. Is there any spot near Hawaii Kai or Kailua where you can that view…? Essentially spots on the east side of Honolulu that have a kick ass west facing view? Mahalo. :)

Aloha, Anya. $1.5M can cover a lot of needs depending on what you're looking for. Oahu offers so many options that when compared to some of those places you mentioned can seem like a steal.
