Just love that you showed the injuries from Tilly’s last bike accident. This is real life! Most people are too afraid of their kids getting injured so they don’t get to play like we used to! You are a refreshing unique voice in this crazy competitive online world!
@singlemomonafarmАй бұрын
Oh, thank you for saying that! I think something that really ruined it is people calling CPS on parents of kids who had injuries. Somewhere along the lines a child falling off a bike or out of a tree means you're a neglectful parent. Not sure how that happened. You're right, it's so sad. Lots of parents are worried about that. I am too. It's difficult when you take a child in for stitches and the doctor gets after you for not taking better precautions. On the flip side, it's so refreshing when the doctor is glad your child was playing outside and just says it's real life--like you said. I think some parents also don't like to see their kids hurt. I mean, nobody does, but they can't handle it so they don't let them play like I used to when I was a kid. Thank you so much for your kind words and validating my choices. It means a lot to me.

I love watching your kids play. I think they may be the some of the very few who play like kids are suppose to. I’m sad for all the other children. My grand kids as well. And their imaginations are enormous!! Thank you for being such a good mom for them. God made you for this. ❤️☺️❤️

It sounds like you accomplished a lot and the kids had fun. Wonderful descriptions thank you! I love A Christmas Carol. We read it in 8th grade. My favorite movie version is the 1984 version with George C Scott.

Hi Family, Always so nice to see y’all, so glad Tilly didn’t get hurt, shew scared me! May I ask, do you try and make your trips into town like once or twice a week? Like groceries, rehearsal, library and so on all in one trip, so it can save on gasoline? I do know when we started cutting our trips way down, it saved a lot of money. Also, can your wood stove be brought into the middle of your house so the heat will spread throughout? I know when I was a kid, some nights, we ALL (9) would have to sleep in the living room where the heat was, lol I don’t blame ya not wanting to buy that propane, so expensive! But I pray y’all don’t get cold either. God Bless sweet friends ❤

Yes, Tilly scared me too! Especially since the last bike wreck last January was so bad. Yes, we definitely consolidate trips! I grew up in the country and that's how we did things so now I do the same. Rehearsal schedule is set so I always schedule my cleaning jobs before or after them. Then grocery shopping, walking the dog, things like that. And yes, the library is across the street from rehearsal so we always stop there before rehearsal. Tomorrow, for example, we're helping cook food for a community Thanksgiving meal a church is providing for those who don't have one. We can come anytime during the day to help but I scheduled that from 2-4, then rehearsal from 4-6, then while Madalyn has her rehearsal (she's playing the piano in "It's A Wonderful Life" radio show) at 6 we are helping an older lady put up her Christmas tree. Madalyn will have to sit and wait during our rehearsal and we will have to find something to do during hers (which I did), but we aren't going to take two cars or make extra trips. My kids are sooo good to have this mindset. We would never ever run to town just for 1 errand like a store or library or just 1 job. I always put multiple jobs together like walking the dog, cleaning someone's house, then stacking someone's wood. Glad you think the same way! Yes, I'm trying to figure out how to bring it to the middle of the house. I'm going to someday! Just gotta reconfigure some things. And inspect the chimneys to make sure they're clean and safe. And take out the gas fireplace and cap it off.

Wow, for what it costs to fill the propane tank once, you could pretty much put in a wood stove~ especially if you found a good used one. I grew up in WA State, always had a wood stove for winter, & always managed to find them free or very low cost if our house didn't already have one. Other than that, it's just punching the hole, putting up flashing/firewall & a decent base. Agree with you completely on not wanting to fill that propane, but I also do not like any type of gas or propane for heating or cooking~ makes me nervous. Electric & wood is my favorite. Actually, we have a few small "Handy Heaters" that plug directly into a regular wall outlet, are very economical, & take up no additional floor or counter space. Discovered them last year for using in our little RV, but they also work great for heating up an entire house too. The three we have were $16 for the 350 watt, $25 for the 600 watt, & $35 for the 800 watt~ purchased at WalMart. Highly recommend for anyone looking to supplement their heat source.

Great idea to find a good used wood stove! Sounds like you know how to put one in. I'll hire you!! The hard thing for me is to figure out where to put it. I have 2 chimneys but neither have room by them to keep firewood and newspapers to burn. Plus all the wood chips. My house growing up has a huge rock area where we have a wood holder and it collects all the wood chips so it stays off the carpet. It can hold a week's worth of wood. But here in the main house I haven't found a great place. I don't want to take room out of the living room since we hardly fit in it. And I don't want to take room out of the kitchen/dining room b/c it's super tight to fit us around the table as it is. I'd love to remodel sometime to reconfigure the rooms, make the kitchen more spacious as well as the living room. I envision having the kids bring their spouses and grandkids here for Sunday dinners or Christmas and we don't have enough seating in the living room or kitchen. Not a big deal and I'm not complaining. Just a dream. And then put in a nice wood stove--maybe a cook stove-- that has a place for a wood rack and will heat the whole house. Thanks for the tips about the space heaters. My sister uses one in her apartment. Do they use a lot of electricity? Is your electric bill high? Seems like they wouldn't be as efficient as central heat that turns on and off throughout the day. But definitely nice for just heating the living room while everyone is in it. I'll look into it.

@@singlemomonafarm LOVE your ideas about kids/spouses/grands in the future~ such a wonderful momma's heart you have! Understand exactly what you mean by space & location as well, regarding a second woodstove. We've vented them out through walls before as well, so it doesn't need to be a roof exhaust or existing chimney~ just something else to consider for the future. *Also, about the "Handy Heaters" which plug directly into outlets~ yes, they are quite economical, being ceramic style heaters & using much less wattage(400 to 800 watts) than standard space heaters, which draw 1,500 to 1,800 watts on average. Much easier on the electric bill, & they do cycle on & off with actual built in thermostats as well. We use them sporadically, until the sun starts heating up through the windows. Living in Arizona, we take full advantage of that free "solar" heat, even in the winter.May God continue to bless your efforts dear one ~Sammy in AZ
