Nice touch to the video with the sunset...a side benefit of farming, taking in the natural beauty of our world. Tile projects are always a worthwhile investment of time and money. Can't control the weather, but can gain valuable time at planting and harvest. Road ditches and field borders sure vary between townships and counties...some areas are unkempt and overgrown while others are neat as a pin.

Good luck getting the county to maintain their ditches. I have been trying to get a ditch dug out that has not been touched in 30 plus years. My requests fall on deaf ears.

I think you're looking at it wrong son. Mowing was productive and necessary. Wasn't profitable but was productive. I think everything you do is productive. You're being a good stuart of the land. I say good job young man. I hope you are able to get things worked out for the tile job. See you soon in the next one.

Have you ever ran across CBT Tractors? I guess they bought License to Oliver Designs to sell in Brazil. Some of their tractors ive seen pictures of in the 70s and 80s look so much like Oliver and Minneapolis-Moline influenced qnd very close to what Ive seen of the APD tractor at the Floyd County Museum.

This may be a stupid question since I don’t live anywhere near where are you do, but why wouldn’t you leave that wheat stubble until the spring so that you can catch more moisture?Maybe I’m not understanding is it because the whole field lays wet and you’re not worried about retaining moisture?
@harvestingharrolds1086 Жыл бұрын
Tried running beans and kept having problems with the head. Tested corn and it's 20 plus still. Probably going to run some as it failed the push test. I'll be harvesting through Thanksgiving to. Good luck on getting it all done.

Hopefully we don’t have any issues with corn blowing over.

We been picking off the corn end rows, doing really well for them mid 18 percent moisture, yield is around 170 per acre I'll take it for the year we had . Are beans are green on the bottoms some beans here down around 10 on moisture hoping for a safe harvest. From turkey creek farms be safe n thankful

You made mention of looking for the right answer, I've come to the conclusion that whenever I make a decision about something, I second guess myself afterwards sometimes and think, I should have done that instead. Every season presents itself differently. Just have to do what seems the best at the time and go with it
@Oliver66FarmBoy Жыл бұрын
That’s about all we can do.

I am sure it is, but where I live, the farmers say, “You pay for tile whether you have or not.” I was with some friends looking at a potential land purchase. They were thrilled to see fox tail growing where there had been wet spots. To them, it meant they could tile it and improve it. They bought it, tiled it and those are the best soils.

You are right 1000 a tree and 4 dollars afoot for ditch cleaning. Run for township trustee and get on board . Then things will happen that need attention.

Our little city is the same way. They pissed money in the past and now a person can't get nothing done. When they decide to do anything they want more tax money. Anywho you are getting things done just not things that bring money in.
