I saw your garden for the first time about a year ago and was completely blown away. I honestly didn't think it could get any better but you have proven me wrong!! Your creativity and eye for detail makes it hard to believe that you have no formal training. I have the same flooding problem in my backyard that you started out with. I had an idea to do something similar with the dry creek bed and pond, so it was nice to see that it could possibly work. I live in Louisiana and because of snakes, etc in the woods behind my home I think a large rain garden would be better. Also, my garden wouldn't be as full and lush as yours to minimize hiding places for them. We've only seen 6 snakes in 26 yrs which isn't bad but that's still too many! I plan to modify some of the things you've done. Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us!

Jaycee…I’m in GA & live on a small lake with some woods behind that. Snakes? Yes & Im deathly afraid of them & have nearly killed myself trying to get away when one surprises me. Lol I’m an avid gardener as well so there are a lot of good hiding places all around us.

Lindylou would u believe I was sitting on my yard around 3pm this afternoon, looked up, and there was a gray snake 4-5 long, stretched out on the lawn about 6 ft from me? I screamed for my son (didn't hear me bcuz he was in the house with the ear thingies in his ears) and apparently I scared the snake because he flew in the opposite direction from me. It's after 8 pm and my throat is still raw from screaming and I still have a slight headache. This situation brought all of my backyard gardening plans to a hait I'm really sad
@lindylou3519 Жыл бұрын
@@jaycee5691 it is sad. I hate being paranoid everytime I want to “enjoy” myself in the garden.

@@jaycee5691 I hate snakes too. What women doesn't. But because my husband is ill. I've had to kill snakes. I don't just chop their heads off, I kept chopping it into one inch pieces, my adrenaline was off the charts.

Mine would've been off the charts too! I'm still trying to find a way to landscape in my backyard because I want to enjoy being back there. I definitely can't do a lot of what's in this video, although I love what he's done

Planters have one easy rule - thrillers, spillers and fillers. Spillers to fall over the edge, fillers to make the planting full and thrillers to stand tall and put on a show.

I'm making a Pondless Waterfall too! It's taking somewhat longer than yours😂. Using a preform, I fabricated a copper Calla Lily and Leaf that will pour onto the spill rock. Trying now to split a boulder I found buried in the yard to use a chunk for that.. I never thought to cover the grate and poke holes! In any case, I like your end result👍😻. P.S. ❤ the Moongate, something that's been in the back of my mind for decades too😊. I think I saw it in BHG magazine.

He had the same type of style and really handy in making things like water features. I live in my parents home, now he’s gone….with all these water features I have no clue on how to get them running again so this helps a lot. Plus gives me some really cool inspiration for new projects. Thank you so much for sharing this to all of us.

I think your garden is so nice and the moon gate you have made is superb. I'm not trying to be negative or picky but I think you could take it to a whole new level if there was something to catch your attention when you look through the gate. It feels like there is something missing from the middle of the garden. Have you considered creating seperation/rooms or even a feature in the centre of the grass. the new water feature is amazing too.
