You want to create high-quality work-trust us we get it. But you’ve experienced what happens if you take that too far. You struggle to start and finish most projects because they never reach your standard. You’re always dissatisfied with what you make and don’t want to let yourself and others down. Learning how to overcome perfectionism is the art of realizing that in the long run you actually will make worse quality work if you get caught up in it being “perfect”. Why? Because you’re afraid to fail, make mistakes, and therefore make huge improvements over time. In this video, Fia will teach you exactly how to begin to create work you are proud of!

Ok yesterday i did another presentation but this one really ended up a car crash and i usually would have been extremely down and self defeated. It did give me a real bad headache. In my new role i have to present with others including line manager. Although we had done this presentation before, yesterday we were in a new environment with a audience who didnt really want to be there. I had practiced my part thoroughly but my team mate i could tell didnt and i could feel her paniking and she started introducing material that was not in her section but from mine so when it got to my part to introduce that material I wavered and became unsure and it took all my energy to rise above it and it took at least 3 slides to get back on my feet..all i could hear in my head was why is this being repeated.... I dont really know how i could have recovered in those take over slides..especially as my starter in my head was now im going to show you.... :( I really wanted to keep my image and i probably did get it bk by the end by using my personal stories and experience. In the last few presentations we got 4.5 out of 5. But now i think we wont get more than 3 :( ☹ any tips for team presentations ? I think i need to show them your videos xx love this video of yours it really helped me overcome my negativd thinking.

Thank you so much for sharing Ruby! First of all you should be really proud of yourself for feeling unsure and managing to push past it! There are so many things can can go wrong in a presentation from technology and the audience's mood to forgetting points or getting derailed. The important thing to remember is that the audience has NO IDEA what you were supposed to say. They don't know the plan or the outline. So when you trip up or make mistakes or even repeat information, they likely have no idea that's no supposed to be happening. Whenever you've listened to music live, I assure you that the musicians made mistakes that you didn't even realize happened because they just kept playing. i.e. You did the right thing. You just pushed through and kept going! Ultimately, all an audience wants is to hear from a confident, relaxed speaker. Even repeated information is ok because you'll have your own opinions on why the information is useful to share. It's about being adaptable, having a plan and structure but also a mindset to roll with the punches and make changes if you need to. Even if your team was all perfect, an audience member could say something that derails the presentation - anything can happen. But if you focus on remaining calm and sharing your experiences and stories, then you'll be great. From what you wrote, it sounds like you did a great job! Every presentation, good and bad, is simply an experience that helps you improve and grow. Literally every great speaker you know has been part of many terrible presentations and made loads of mistakes themselves. So all this means is that you're on the right path to self-development and improving! With team presentations you have to think about what's realistic. You can 100% be responsible for yourself. And you can also give notes, advice, and practice with your team. But you absolutely cannot practice for them or be responsible for them. It's unfortunate if they mess up but that's outside of your control. All that matters is you look back on the experience and think: "I prepared. I practiced. I did my best!" As long as you can say that, then the outcome really, doesn't matter!
