Dam good job TinMan I totally agree with you on creating a HP projectile. Then seeing it pop a few milk jugs creating a beautiful mushroom 🍄. I was so stoked when I did it with my 9mm/38 mold I had to get my hands on a couple rifle molds. The rifle molds do the exact same thing I can only imagine what my 30 cal molds will do to a deer. If I had to make my best guess the rifle mold will stop a white tail in it tracks. I have a video of testing a 150 grain 30 cal mold in a 308 of mine and it was devastating to the milk jugs.
@TinManReloading2 жыл бұрын
30 cal would be nasty on a deer. I'll check out the 308 video! Thanks, Johnny 👍

That works for me, I cast my own 9 MM, 38/357 and 45 ACP HP's and it's not as hard as some make it out to be. The main thing with cast HP's is to keep your alloy malleable so it expands but doesn't sheer off the expanded lead when it opens up. Those shallow HP pins will only expand so much, the deeper pins will allow more expansion and the harder alloy you're using at that point may be too hard to hold together.
@TinManReloading2 жыл бұрын
You make some great looking bullets, 7sixtwo. I'm about to try to use the deep pins now. I think you're right about them shearing off when you use the deep pins. Hopefully I get my alloy a bit softer this time. Thanks for watching! This is addictive. Hehehe

@@TinManReloading hope find out soon
@unclejim23302 жыл бұрын
That was great, the deep ones would probably break up so cast the next shallow ones softer. 👍 (edit to add) I found the vid where I shot your BULLET with Unique at 1.227 FPS , 3 jugs and a thin pine board , slightly half mushroom and the other parts broke off. Bullet was found on the table and dipped low on the last jug, weight recovered was 155.9
@TinManReloading2 жыл бұрын
Youre right, the deep ones would probably have grenaded. I wonder why yours sheared some off? Different batch of bullets maybe? I'm gonna keep playing around with it. Thanks, UJ
