Nice overview of the new OS. Myself, I’m going to wait until the public beta version is complete. For now, I’m just watching all the videos of people using to the software. I’m new to the MPC(I only had my Live ll for a few months now).

You don't see the Programs section in MPC 3 because that was exactly the point of this update. Programs is a hopelessly confusing and outdated legacy MPC concept. Nothing that (multiple) Tracks can't do, just like any DAW out there. For people coming from a DAW the MPC now makes a hell of a lot more sense: you have your tracks and your arrangement.

Honestly mpc conforming to be a daw is them losing their best feature. The ability to not have to do linear editing was what made mpc fast. Now they are trying to compete with daws that have way more features than them. They will never compete with a full fledged daw on a maxed out computer or laptop? Bigger screens more memory more hard drive? Why not just improve the niche mpc features instead of trying to be like everyone else yet not as good?

@@phatsunny They're going that route because there is a huge market for music making standalone. People like me that are coming from Ableton but want a more tactile experience without being behind a computer. By merging Programs with Tracks and adding Arrangement while keeping Song mode Akai is basically keeping everybodey happy: both their legacy fanbase and the huge market of newcomers.

Cool vid Matthew! I'm definitely staying on 2.15. I don't like the work flow on MPC 3. I don't like the fact we don't have Programs on the main page! I think 3.0 would work best on a computer!

Hey, Matt, or comment section, please help. I have been watching a lot of your videos to get my head around my MPK Mini. I am brand new to all of this so forgive me if there is an easy solution I am missing. I am loading sound effects into samples so I can use my MPK as my main source for a school play I am directing. I have a longer loop for some of samples and I was wondering if I can either fade out the sample or simple press "stop" altogether. Example: I have 2 minutes of a thunderstorm but instead of clipping it I would just prefer to push a stop button. When I activate my sample on the pad or keys, I have to wait for the sample to fully play on its own.

I have mpc x and I will tell you my opinion: 1)in standalone mode it needs some better file browser, like I need to be able to delete some project files. 2)i need a possibility in browser to be able to move files from sd to ssd. 3)better memory management, like not be able to load 100 plug in instruments into project memory space. Just the ones I use. 4)easier ethernet cable file transfer, like plug and play into computer.

Great job as always Matthew. Question: MPC2 had a way to save my plugins in a "Favorites" area. Made finding a plugin that I liked easy and quick. . Cant find it in MPC3. Have you seen it?

Where is track mute? Song mode? With those you don't need daw parts? I used my mpc one with my laptop why do I want to do linear editing on a tiny screen? Why do I want to use mpc as a daw? I would rather track it into a daw? I don't like the new update?? They need two branches of the software. Removing drum programs selection? Removing track mute and song mode?? I don't understand why they want to be a daw?? They already had a good thing??

NICE comment, peope just think DAW is what people use, so lets make it like a DAW now, not understanding what people really want, WE WANT SIMPLICITY? The workflow is tradh for Akai, nothing straight forward; you cant mute single notes in piano roll eve till now, sometimes you record and realise nothing was recorded bs of the ARM button hidden away in some other menu. They just cater fo samplist or people who use of sequence for a song. They dont even care if people actual record vocals guitar etc. I can go on and on, AKAI is behind with the how things works, although they excellent with sampling and effects, etc but how to use it and make actual songs they are zero and people need to get angry so they can change. The ver fundamental way its been working is bad. try to plug a mic it a lot steps to even hear back audio.......man these people should hire real musician to tell them how the machine should work. SHAME

Depends. If you're downloading 3.0 for the first time, then it's a little more effort. You would either have to hook your MPC to your computer on controller mode, use a USB stick, or an SD card to load the new OS on your device. You would also have to register it to properly activate it. If you already have 3.0 and are just going for the newest update for it, then you can just go the wifi route with it just like you did for the various MPC 2 updates.

I went in completely blind and now I'm struggling with all the info and it is too much. So could you please help me by giving me like a few nudges in the right direction. the 3.0 has a ton of good, but taking projects from 2.15.1 is still an issue in my case. tracks that i have mixed down in the 2.15.1 version i had to mix down again in 3.0. i also had an issue where the sample done in 2.15.1 was missing in 3.0. i'll stick to 2.15.1 until i can hear things the way i have them in 2.15.1. but I love 3.0's start!!!

07:06 You have to double tap the waveform or the note grid to enter the arranger

Right, that takes you to grid edit, then you can tap over to arranger as I show here at 03:08.
