I'm a big jazz head. Been playing jazz on piano/keys for the last 10 years. Hip-hop led me to jazz. It's a hard style to sample when there's horns and everything haha. But honestly I really dig what you ended up doing with this. You might enjoy sampling some jazz ballads or even just quartets where there's more room to get chops.

Can you globally edit the AMP envelope for a whole program or must it be done pad by pad individually?
@malobeats2 күн бұрын
Hey brother, absolutely, you could affect the entire program or just do those changes to an individual pad. This setting will be located in the program/track editor page.

Does the MPC1 have the same randomized slice chops function? Not seeing it.

Advice from a jazz head:Start listening to jazz music…start with the 1960s (John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Monk, etc) it’ll give you an understanding of what’s going on…you’ll start to hear the “starts and stops” of where to sample. And then explore the 70s types of jazz…it was more experimental and less rigid as the classics…listen to Bob James albums: One, Two, and Three. All classic albums and classic hip hop samples on there.
@squalley3 күн бұрын
Malo, try going back through the sample at your comfortable tempo range and do it again. I think the tempo was way too fast for that sample. When sampling jazz music,it’s easier to manipulate at its original tempo, then use one of our fav tools… “Time Stretch” Give it a try
@malobeats3 күн бұрын
@@squalley thanks man. Yes I really want to push myself out of my comfort zone and tap into different genres of music to switch things up. Just being able to explore different tempos really takes me to a whole different place. I really appreciate you taking the time sharing this feedback with me 🫡🙏
