The sampling in Jungle was so light years ahead of anything coming out in the mid 90's...those guys actually read the manual for their samplers and used every single function to maximum effect.

Excited to see the workflow for the MPC. Haven’t seen your channel before (not producing hip hop or trap atm), so I’m glad to have found your channel through here. Subbed.

I’m new to to MPC one and I have to say that your videos have been the most practical that I’ve found. You make everything quick and to the point and you seem to have a very open mind when it comes to music. I’d love to see a video where you cover UK style breakbeats (like Stanton warriors) but I really like the way your tutorials experiment with different sounds and break down ways to achieve them. Too many tracks to name: but one track comes to mind is Akuma's theme on Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. That whole OST album is crazy!! Couple others were: M-Beat "Incredible" (I liked it before Da Ali G Show), mixtapes I would hear from DJ Dara and Danny the Wildchild. In Philly, we used to have a shop called 611 Records that had all of the imports and underground releases. Of course, that's gone now, but I always loved Drum n Bass and Jungle. I'm an English child of the Jungle era and I've seen it progress into what it is today. Like the comment below me, jungle was about creativity and being a trailblazer - using the best break edits and utilising the equipment you had (you had to cuz most Jungles producers were working out of their bedrooms with a sampler, synth, PC and a desk) but also one of the biggest things - beyond the breaks and bass - was the lead sample, something recognisable when you're off your nut on pills.- like some Ragga vocals or Hip Hop MC's from an accapella. People would come to School or College (after being to a rave or listening to Kiss 100) on Monday morning saying: "did you hear that tune with this vocal or that MC or some sample from a film?) Some of the classics are: Origin Unknown - Valley of the Shadows (31 Seconds). Leviticus - Burial. Zinc - On Fire Tonight. Urban Shakedown - Some Justice 95 Remix. These are but a few but they paint the picture of memorable beats, bass and samples. Big up from the UK 🇬🇧♥🇺🇸

Thanks for not "Finger drumming" an amen break and actually showing some of the programming capabilities of the MPC One. I've been using a combination of Reaktor, Ableton, and Renoise for many years and have developed a curiosity recently about the level of control I could exert over a loop with an MPC in a Jungle-type style. I'm coming at it from a more Squarepusher-influenced angle though. I heard, though I don't know if it's true, that the MPC One is "stuck in 4/4". Is that true?
