Hey man, thanks for the tutorial. This was really helpful. There's one problem I still have and hoping someone can help... When I am in controller mode, I cannot get the "clips" (sequencer mode) to play the same as they would in standalone mode.. Normally, in standalone, I would hit pads in a "clip" kit and they start playing the demo loops (like can play multiple pads at the same time and they flash yellow); but for some reason in controller mode in my DAW, when I hit pads in a clip kit nothing happens. I'm using logic pro x by the way; every regular drum kit works.. just not the sequence loops for some reason. If you could help me that would be amazing!

I have a touch. Does it make sense to get an X considering, I'll probably mainly use it in controller mode? I have 32 outs and 12 midi outs. I'd have less on the MPC, but a better screen/controller. But it's expensive for a controller

If I make a beat in standalone mode then decide I wanna use a vst, I understand I hv to go in controller mode to use that vst, but after I save the beat in my Mpc ssd, and later on decide to pull the beat up, do I hv to connect to controller mode again in order to hear the vst sounds in conjunction with the sounds I used in standalone? Or will everything just pullup in standalone.?
@producer7907
@producer7907 3 жыл бұрын
After your record a track using a plug-in you then can sample it with the looper in the MPC and save in in a program. All the tracks using plugins should be saved in a program. Then you will always have a wave of that track to play or export

@@producer7907 yh I've figured out our, I've got my apollo interface plugged into my mpc x, then the mpc plugged directly the monitors. So that way, the mpc is the like the master hub but I can switch the mpc to direct in order to control the volume through the interface when using on logic Pro x.

Gans, I am thinking the same as I own a Maschine Mikro MK2. But I really want this because I started off making beats with a MPC 2000 Studio.
@PHeMoX
@PHeMoX 6 жыл бұрын
I've got the Maschine Mikro MK2 as well and have always kind of regretted not having gotten the larger Maschine MK2 with all the knobs. The Mikro feels a little too limited. However, I wouldn't hold my breath for a 'stand-alone' Native Instruments competitor that directly takes on the MPC X. I don't think they would be interested in that at all. In fact, none of their current models even really have things like dedicated microphone inputs or more extensive I/Os. It took them until the Maschine MK3 to wake up to the fact people want the Maschine to be more of an all-in-one and also have an audio interface and sadly, they haven't even solved the original issue of recording / sampling from the computer directly with it.In my opinion this is testament to how Native Instruments really wants you to also buy their Komplete Audio 6 for the connectivity we actually need. Even their Maschine Studio is like almost a grand in cost where I'm living and still lacks all of that. It's exactly why I can't force myself to save up for the Maschine Studio. My next sampler is going to be one that's more aimed at actual sampling and doesn't rely crazy much on existing sample packs or instruments separately sold. Don't get me wrong, the Maschine 2.x software at this point is pretty serviceable and can kind of get the job done in terms of making music. But... it's far from ideal or well designed around a truly hands-on approach. It still lacks audio tracks, it still lacks a decent overdub mode for vocals / live instruments etc. In short, it's not really the right tool for singer/songwriter type purposes, which is kind of a shame. I'm aware work-arounds exist, like Soundflower or using a different DAW than the Maschine software, but in reality this is a machine that should be capable of all this straight out of the box. And it should have gotten these updates or upgrades years ago. Don't get me wrong. I don't really care which brand I am using for my music production. I'm not interested in brand X vs Y fights. I still own an Roland MV8800 and have had MPCs in the past. But I can totally see flaws with the Mikro MK2 and the Maschine software where there should have basically been none.
@myaudiomarketplace7361
@myaudiomarketplace7361 6 жыл бұрын
PHeMoX I was going to recommend using or buying yourself an MV8800. I use to own the 8k and wish I have kept it. I loved my MPC 2000 Studio but paying 2k for the new MPC X 😐 Na I am good. The MK3 is a good price for what I am going to use it for. If I am going to record vocals I use Logic with my UA Apollo interface.

Transfer is for when you are in standalone and need to send to your computer. That function is essential if you made beats away from your studio. In controller mode you only have connections to the drives on your computer not the drives in the Akai. Your Akai becomes a glorified controller in controller mode so how the hell are you still able to access your Akai's internal drive????? Stop misleading people bro.

Why buy an Mpc to go from Mpc standalone to Mpc 2.0 software to logic makes zero sense its very clear and obvious the CPU and ram in the Mpc is not ready to handle over 8 audio tracks that's going backwards and also why work on a 10inch screen when you have a huge computer screen hmm marketing really works akai should have made a controller version of the Mpc x with no audio card as an option because I use the 2.0 software and it sounds huge and punchy no issues really just need to be fully finished nice beat you played too bro
@producer7907
@producer7907 6 жыл бұрын
When you do your beat in standalone you will still need to import it somehow. The 8 audio tracks are good for recording instruments like the Miko and other analog gear. The problem before this was you could not save your beat in one place like the mpc software. Tracking out to logic every beat you do was a long work flow. You would need to track everything out to DAW just to save a beat. That was killing analog gear and putting more focus on VST and just stay in the box. When I hook the X up to the Imac I still could load up my beat i've done in standalone mode like it was in software mode. Point is CPU all go out of date very soon and no beats are safe chilling out on a CPU, Windows or Mac. So why not save all your beats on your MPC X HD? So when your vst are no longer supported and you can't update your OS on your CPU, and force to buy another computer all your beat would be safe on your X hard drive. I would mostly be in controller mode but if i wanted to go out and sample or rock out on the fly with some catz all i'll need is the X and not the whole setup. Then get back home hook up to the Imac and make the production bigger or import it to logic and keep it moving. I grew up in a time where it was koo to have your drum machine with ya and hook up and rock out anywhere. You could find all types of motivation in being mobile. But you need something that will also be compatible to a CPU
@producer7907
@producer7907 6 жыл бұрын
and once you save your beat you don't have to go from here to there. Its already there you just import it to whatever.
@producer7907
@producer7907 6 жыл бұрын
I never like the fact that all my beats were on a computer. i've had three major hard drive issue's where i lost everything. And to look at that little super thin IMac screen thinking all my creations live in there wasn't koo with me. And then to say This IMAC is my instrument and the center of my studio was going to far. That's why i still have my 4000 because the Renn controller wasn't i real boy lol. i wanted my center piece to not be my iMac but my MPC. To run 2.0 software good you need a supercomputer like i7 16 gigs so on. When my Mac kills over, at that time i may not be able to go right out and buy another right away. so my beat shouldn't suffer till then. It's A REAL MPC
@dugnice
@dugnice 6 жыл бұрын
"To run 2.0 software good you need a supercomputer like i7 16 gigs so on." IF this is true, then that would REALLY suck, considering I've ran several DAWs on moderate computers (i5, 4-8gb of ram) with great performance. Of course I'm not able to run high numbers of cpu intensive vsts, but most producers convert midi to audio anyway and are working with samples. Shouldn't NEED a "super computer" to manipulate simple audio files. I can see if you're planning to use multiple instances of high intensity vsts, like Omnisphere or Nexus, or running high numbers of audio tracks (I'm talking 32 or more tracks of audio with effects). I have a 2 in 1 tablet with an intel atom processor & 2gb of ram that can run FL Studio and easily handle 16 tracks of audio with moderate effects being used.

NLS Yea I agree but mpc is really a beat machine and daws like logic are probably better for mixing. Akai made a standalone mpc because everybody was whining that they needed a standalone mpc. Don't know what the problem with working on a computer is. Yea it gets very unmusical after a while mousing around but with stuff like maschine mpc console 1 and the raven etc you can make things a lot more hands on with your controllers. Less mousing around but its always there whenever you need it. Just having a Panorama with Bitwig keeps my hand more on my keyboard than the mouse but I don't mind going for the mouse from time to time. Rather have it then not. The mouse makes a lot of things a lot more simpler.
