I waited patiently for GM to come out with numbers on the 2024 Duramax and I have to say I was disappointed that they didn't ramp up the power a little more to keep pace with Ford. I ended up buying a 2023 GMC Denali Dually and quickly added a Banks Derringer and Banks Ram air intake and now I can say I am happy with the power. I tow a 15k fifth wheel and my last truck was a 2017 Silverado 3500 SRW and while I really liked the truck, by the time I added an aux fuel tank, ranch hand bumper with 18k winch and a few other goodies, I was always over weight towing my trailer. Now I have a cushion on weight and payload capacity. The dually doesn't get as good of fuel economy as the SRW. One question about the 2024, did you notice where the aux camera plug ins are located? are they still in the bumper plug above the trailer plug? This is a dumb design on GM's part. I bought the rear trailer camera for my fifth wheel and the wiring has to go over the tailgate to plug into the bumper plug in. The wire flexes a lot and I am on my 4 end replacement because the wire keeps breaking . Some people have switched this plug in with the one in the bed of the truck that also has a 4 pin in addition to the 7 pin, again what was GM thinking, the 4 pin is usually for boat trailers or small trailers.Anyway relocating the plugs requires an expensive extension harness for the camera leads, but the plastic housing is a direct replacement. I am in Wyoming too, Worland. Have you ever thought about doing a Wyoming style mountain pass test? Going from Buffalo off of I 25 to the top of Powder River Pass and back? This is a tough pull and really tests a trucks ability towing a trailer!

I'd say, that you could easily, go down a set of bolt holes, on the trailer pin box or up a set of bolt holes on the truck fifth wheel hitch, to improve the clearance between the pickup bedrails and the trailer. Also, either one, of the two aforementioned adjustments, should make the Cameo fifth wheel ride level, seems low in the nose, when hooked up to the Chevy.

It is mind boggling that diesel is cheaper than regular gas now in the US. It hasn't been like that since Obama began the Fundamental Transformation of America. To answer your question about towing, I have a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 dually and I bought that because I tow over 15,000 lbs. Once you start to get close to 20,000 lbs dually's are all but a must have especially when the wind starts to pick up. I've driven single axle 3500's before, and those back tires move enough you just burn through tires like crazy and at times it is just not safe.

this crazy inflation all started when nobody wanted to work after COVID and employers had to start offering $15 an hour to work at McDonald's and even higher to work other places because these employers aren't going to absorb the extra cost so you know who does.... if people would've got off their ass and worked when it was time to go back to work it may have not been as bad but the government paying people not to work didn't help so now we have $85K trucks and $5 milk etc.

@triedproven9908 Жыл бұрын
So we can listen to it detonate as it struggles to produce the necessary torque.
@brockloy2210 Жыл бұрын
@triedproven9908 yes that's exactly why because we all know diesels never and I mean never ever have any issues and they save you money in the long run, and get better gas mileage, are so quiet, are great sitting the winter, do a cool thing with the regeneration, never have any transmission or turbo issues, maintenance also a big advantage, Def is a cool convenience the diesel offers, price of the diesel is also fantastic because the diesels of today last just as long or longer as the diesels of 20 plus years ago, oh the resale value is fantastic as well you will get 10,000 dollars more 5 years from now compared to the gas, (did I pay 10,000 dollars more for this upfront?) Look I get it you are a diesel fan boy and diesels can do no wrong in your book and honestly I've driven diesels and love the feeling when driving one a man's man truck. All I'm saying is I know the diesel is going outperform the gas truck but at a higher cost, less reliability, and lifespan weaker with all this emissions crap. The gas truck IMO has narrowed the gap the last few years but before your head explodes yes diesel is still king. I personally will only be towing about a month in total throughout the year with weights not exceeding 13,000 lb. A diesel would be cool to have but I wouldn't work it the way diesels like to be worked so the gas makes more sense for me. In saying that thanks for letting me know that the gas engine gets very loud and quiet possibly might detonate if one should tow any weight with it, I'll keep that in mind when making my decision.

Ford again has raised the bar for HP and torque at 500 and 1200 available. That fifth wheel clearance on the bed is going to cost them sales. GM engineers are missing the boat on why people buy a truck like this. As far as the bed is concerned, they’re putting form over function.
