Interesting thoughts on kite sizes…I am in a similar predicament as I am currently in Lautaret France and have a 6 and 13 peak 4 and old ozone frenzy 9 and I notice a few folks with 12 FS soul and ozone double skin kites too and they seem to get upwind easier than me with my 13 so am thinking to sell the 13 and 9 ozone and aim for a similar quiver you have ie 4,6 and 8 peak and something like a soul 12 or ozone hyperlink ??Am currently learning to fly but find it really hard doing the bar switch and just relaxing floating down as it feels odd and I tend to steer kite wrong way or over correct and crash although not always so any tips??i guess just practice practice to get the muscle memory 😁good video hoping to try Norway next year 👍👍😎

I really prefer to fly with the peaks. I have a PLKB Ibex ultralight 12m, I fly with it and it is a good kite but I really prefer to fly my peaks. The 6m is my favourite size. Of course you gain in upwind angle and speed with cell kites but the versatility of single skin is just incredible. And where I live i need to ski up for up to 1h before I can launch. So I have no idé what the wind is at the spot. So taking 3 peaks in my bag pack is not issue. 3 souls will just be impossible. Yeah, to fly and build muscle memory then practice is just the key. But for easier landing i can recommend to land with some angle to the wind. It will feel more natural to switch the bar and not steer the kite the wrong way.

@@MathPeuz interesting thanks I will see what I do and I agree totally about the joy of single skin kites size wise,I am here in France for last 6 weeks and I live in west of Ireland and am heading back there next week so not a LOT snow there but we do get some most winters!!🤣cheers and happy kiting and thanks for your insights very helpful 👍🤙

Cool 🎉 If you had to choose one kite between 4, 6 and 8m, which one would you choose and why?

My favorite is the 6. It's the funnier to fly. But the one I used the most is maybe the 8. In steep terrain, I prefer the 6m, it's always more wind once you climb. When flying it goes faster, you can control the height more easily, and it is more radical. The 4 is fun to fly when it's steep, but it trickier to land if you have to land where it's flatter. It has little lift. So it depends what you want do. What type of terrain, and is it often windy?

@@MathPeuz Terrain in my place is flat. Wind is different. Sometimes it's 20-25knt, sometimes 2-3knt. In the future I'd like to have 2 kites to cover the most of winds. So, probably peak6m (as you say it's your favourite) and Soul15m. I'm 69kg.

Hell yeah, 4m flights! My biggest peak is 6m and I want to get a bigger one. People recommend I get an 11m. Have you tried the 11? Should I get an 8 instead?

I had the 11 but peak4. I sold it, I feel it's a bit slow turning. I have now peak5 4/6/8 and a plkb Ibex ultralight 12 (and a peak4 3). I rarely use more than 8m. 4m flights is just so fun. I have a special spot for those, never film there but it's 40% slope, perfect for the 4m 😉 I will try to bring the camera there this year. But it's a long trip from the parking and it's annoying to have the camera for the whole trip.

@@MathPeuz Thx, exactly the slow turning is what bothers me too about the 11. Your new Short Clips have me pumped for the season, I can’t wait!

Nice flying! 🤩 What Peak sizes would you recommend to have a good set-up for different wind conditions in the flat pulling a pulk? I was aiming at 13, 8, 5. What do you think?

Seems about right, I prefer open cell foil kites in bigger size. I have peak4 3m, peak5 4/6/8, and a plkb Ibex ultralight 12m. The upwind performance and speed of my 12m is much better than my old peak4 11m.
