The DC 3 remains the workhorse of many cargo operations in a country as difficult to fly in, as is Colombia. Magnificent bird. Love the grass to 15 ft wide “runway” to dirt and just barely over the trees... these guys have balls.

I'm sure they get nothing like the money of pilots flying big jets, but what a job! You must feel like you are king of the world, cruising over such beautiful terrain (and low enough to actually see it), demonstrating your skill and just generally being super cool. Great video, thanks.

My general takeoff check list was "CIGAR" Controlls - Injin instruments - gas on- altimeter set - runups complete. It always worked for me....for simple airplanes.

This plane is so beautiful, looks like a Land Rover with wings, funtion over design
@EggiTheShadow
@EggiTheShadow 8 жыл бұрын
You obviously mean Land cruiser right?
@TheHelado36
@TheHelado36 8 жыл бұрын
EggiTheShadow no, Land Rover, is a comparison because of the crude and simple engineering of both iconic vehicles !
@stropo100
@stropo100 7 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify things: The true "design" as a whole project , includes also the function as base for the perfect result, and the DC3 fits perfect in this category, reflecting both the aesthetics and techniques of is era
@EggiTheShadow
@EggiTheShadow 7 жыл бұрын
TheHelado36 Ah so that's what you mean. Sure they are both crude and simple, but function over design? Land rovers are the most unreliable car you can buy, whereas the dc3 is incredibly reliable which is why they are still operational and have still survived to this day
@TheHelado36
@TheHelado36 7 жыл бұрын
EggiTheShadow Well I really mean those vehicles that are overwhelmingly used in Africa (that year and design of Land Rover) and the Toyota Land Cruiser is also a very good vehicle! Analogies and comparisons exist not to be picky with them just to enjoy the language device !

I was in La Pedredra in 59/60. They didn't even have an airport then. Pedredra today looks like the airport did in Leticia in those days. Was looking at some videos of Leticia in more recent times, quite a difference. When I was there Leticia didn't have any paved streets.

@DC3Dreams La descripcion lo dice, lleva una carga completa, seguramente va a peso maximo. Ahora, motores cansados? no me parece. Buen trabajo!
