Looks nice, but I must disagree with the idea that an infrared laser is safer than a blue one. From a safety standpoint, the only difference is whether or not you were able to see the beam that blinded you. Please always wear laser rated safety glasses matched to the type of laser you are using when the machine is plugged in. Alternatively, make an enclosure for the entire machine.

I love the architecture of this machine, I am looking for one that has similar features to this machine or like the Anycubic I3 mega architecture and ease of use with the on board SD card direct print from file offline, and clean touch panel display at the front, Safety lens built in and possible a proper smoke control enclosure. Something I can cut easily from paper to art foam or wood up to 1/4" or 6mm thickness in as minimal amount of passes. I know there are commercial machines out there but most of them are large footprint, I am looking for a small 12"x24" footprint machine that can do as described.

Great explanation of what it can do. I ran across this thing because I’m always looking for ways to mark materials. I love my Glowforge but this is one area where it falls short. I’ve tried sprays and used acid on metals where I’ve zapped away the resist material. No great successes. Etching black agate is fantastic in my GF but metal etching is a no go. I’ll let you know if I get one of these and will tell manufacturer that it was based on your recommendation.
