Mr Heater Big Maxx Garage Heater ― Unboxing and First Impression

Unlike other utility heaters, I couldn't find the mounting bracket diagram online for this unit so I needed to physically see the brackets and get measurements so that I can build the support structure in the ceiling to hold this bad boy up. Once the support structure is in place I can run the propane and electricity to the area. I cant install the unit itself until the tin is in place. Thanks Larry. We nearly paid over twice as much for our heater, so I'm hoping this one is as good or better. I believe both are made in China, so that does not explain why the Modine unit was so expensive. I have read some review that say it's quiet, but time will tell 😊

I just ordered mine for $320... one year later, they are kicking modines ass in cost.

Shop heater are always a bear to install the first time. Gas lines, electrical lines, venting, hanging, etc. At least this building is well insulated, and the unit is not one of those monsters!

I agree, some of these hearers are huge! It will be hard enough hoisting this one into place!

I am concerned with your vent pipe clearance. I read that the 1" collar is meant for B-Vent which allows you to be 1" away from combustibles , but you displayed single wall vent pipe, and that needs at least a 4 inch clearance from combustibles.

With the Class III pipe, the thimble has a framing opening size, which in this case is 6 1/2". The thimble itself is 6" diameter giving a 2" clearance all around the pipe. The thimble is cool to the touch in operation. I think this may be an earlier video with the parts recommended by the guy who works at Menards. A class III thimble was what was installed in the end.
