To the house cleaner: STOP UNDER CHARGING. It does not matter what position they are in. If he can afford someone to come clean his house (not everyone can, I certainly can’t) then that’s final! I used to clean for private homes and personally I would stop cleaning for this guy, but if you do decide to continue cleaning for him, start charging him at your proper rate!! He obviously does not appreciate what you are already doing for him! Let him know that you have to start charging him for the full rate as you were previously giving a deal that you can no longer provide, inflation is through the roof, do not allow people to take advantage of you like that.

Cleaning companies actually do charge by the hour and if you go over, you charge more and if you go under, you charge less. The only thing usually agreed upon is the amount of hours it should or usually takes to clean the space. However, if that time changes, the payment changes as well. Cleaning companies often charge down to the exact minute. Maybe it’s different where you guys live like maybe they charge by square footage or flat rate. But the majority charge hourly.
