Kyrie is one the most important song in my entire life. Glad to have lived in the 80's.

The interviewer was professional. She did some research and had some knowledge ready for the interview. She asked the important questions and then let them talk. A lot was squeezed into those four and a half minutes.
@kz1000ps3 жыл бұрын
Yeah considering how often the questions on these shows are nothing more than lowest common denominator, she actually put a bit of pep into her questions. Good job by her!

It's crazy how short lived their success as a band was. They were amazing, and I'm convinced had they been able to release Pull in 1990 (instead of 20 years later because of a shitty record company) it would have found an audience. They would have at least made some more music together afterwards, and it's a crime they were robbed of that.

They were a part of my youth in the mid 1980's.....the lead singer is immensely talented, as are all the members, but his vocal abilities really stood out to me.
@MissJensk1 Жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more Vance. I'll never forget the first time I finally got to hear "Pull". I stood in the middle of the room with my eyes closed, & I felt 23 again. It's funny, I've never seen this clip before & it's the first time I've ever heard Steve Farris speak.

I watched & (VHS tape) recorded this interview as they aired it live - still have the tape, too! :D. I was already a long time Ardent fan of Pages, the group both Richard and Steve George were in prior to reforming as Mr Mister, so after they hit it big with Broken Wings, Kyrie, and Is It Love, I was SO Excited & happy for them that they finally got put on the map! Broken Wings is still my favorite song of all time. I was actually fortunate enough to see them three times in concert back in 1986 and 1987. We saw them two times at The Palace in Hollywood and once again at the Greek Theater. At The Palace, I was right at the stage both times and able to shake Richard's hand. I also caught them as they were coming out of the building at the end of the concert and got their autographs - well, all except Steve Farris. He was AWOL for some reason. I've also been able to communicate with Pat regularly since about 2005. He's a very open and engaging guy - very nice. Pat was even very engaging back in 87, too and smiled big time at me - just extremely friendly when responding to my request for an autograph. Richard and Steve George were extremely reserved, though when I approached them for an autograph and told them how much I loved their music from the Pages days. It's truly amazing they got as far as they did back then when gimmicky hair, image, and synth-driven music was the order of the day.... but good music will always last!

Pages are an astonishingly good band, and criminally overlooked. The 3rd album should be considered a yacht rock classic!

While I was feeling overwhelmed and broken, wondering through young adult mazes of life choices, Mr. Mister's music and lyrics helped me accept my wings just in time to accept the Marine Corps unexpected offer first, and Las Vegas' NDOT offer second, after realizing I can fly better accepting, perfecting and using the unique skills God gave me. I wanted to be a musician and lead singer. I enjoy playing guitar and singing around the campfire. Church is a great way to have fun and sometimes be appreciated, doing dreams, while moving souls toward healed spiritual wings.

1985, actually was the year their biggest album success was released that continued into '86. Too bad the follow-up album flopped, it was musically just as good only lacked the immediate hit songs.

3:35. These guys, like Steely Dan and TOTO are music geeks, straight up. You hear them talk, and you realize they don't have groupies and drugs waiting, but are genuinely obsessing over chord progressions, tonality, timing, feel, and just getting it right.
@desertrose12265 жыл бұрын
The Cars were similar, really, but in the early days in the 70s the Cars did have groupies. Ric Ocasek really was and is a musical genius but also a huge geek!

I was a teenager back then, and honestly, Mr.Mister was a bright light among lewd, god bashing, satanic music on the radio waves. I loved them then and I still love them. They're lyrics bring hope & godly thoughts with 'Kyrie Eleison"= (Lord have mercy). The lyrics of "Broken Wings" suggest a faithful marriage through sickness and health, commitment, monogamy, things that can only be found in the marriage covenant between one man, one woman. Marriage is worth fighting for. Wonderful encouraging music.
