@@alanchamberlain9902we do see in 2 that his family style was deadly, and taught to US special forces. We can also infer from cobra kai it might actually have replaced the way of the fist (which is the style silver uses) It’s not hard to believe at all he could take both of them down. Remember he never teaches Daniel anything about fighting, yet Daniel wins two major regional tournaments; if that’s just the defensive side of the style, I think he’s good.

It really is a testament to how good Mr Miyagi actually is considering how easily older Silver demolished Johnny (yes he sneak attacked him but Johnny could still fight afterwards) and Daniel the first time. He also more than held his own against Chozen, even if Chosen did win in the end. Prime Silver didn't even land a hit on an older Miyagi.

A friend of mine was a teacher at a kung fu school many years ago. Every year the old chinese masters would come in and fight the younger black belts straight up as an exhibition. It was amazing that the older masters never lost and pretty much embarassed their younger, stronger opponents. Older masters defeating younger fighters is very common and realistic. The Miyagi scenes are good and could easily happen in real life. Our western culture is so behind in many disciplines and it really shows up here.

...and then he found out. Ouch! I think that Chozen's comments in Cobra Kai add a new layer to this. Miyagi, Sato, and Chozen all knew who taught Kreese and Silver. They all understood that deception was the key to what they did. At the time, we looked at this fight as Miyagi dealing with a threat to Daniel. Now it looks like Miyagi knew that he was one of the few people in the world that knew what to do about these people. He never takes his eyes off of Silver, but most importantly he is sober as a priest. Chozen was "3 sheets" when he went after Silver, and pretty thoroughly enraged. All the people that Chozen knew - Johnny, Daniel, and MIke, had been victimized by Silver. Sato knew Kim. This was a generational fight. He understood that it had to be him. He took it personally, however. Miyagi really doesn't take fighting personally. He cares more about Daniel-san, than he ever hates anyone.

It's always satisfying to watch bullies get heir asses kicked. Mr. Miyagi was and is one of the coolest duded ever. He didn't want to fight like those jackasses. He wasn't interested in using his skills for profit. He understood that his skills were apart of a deep philosophy about how one should live life seeking a better connection with the self and seeking greater inner peace. But also to always stand up against injustice as you walk a path with love and kindness. He is the teacher every teen should have.

If you watch closely, Mr Miyagi actually missed a strike on Kreese. Mostly all of Mr. Miyagi’s moves are very accurate.
