I always wished in this final scene, they'd show flash backs of Daniel unleashing on Johnny, his friends and The Chozen in one clip and then finally remembering all the killer moves he learned of the past and then utterly destroying Barnes. It just needed more. Climax needs to be a true Climax. There was so much they could have done. It's like Daniel forgot everything he learned. Come on Daniel! Avildsen himself said 3 is bad. He rushed it, and hated the script. It was more for the money and to get it out because it was due for a sequel.

The ONLY missing element in the Cobra Kai franchise is Mr. Miyagi. Even so, the writers have done an INCREDIBLE job of honoring the character!
@Zurround6 ай бұрын
I posted on other threads that if the actor was alive it would STILL be better for his character to be dead from a story standpoint both because its realistic (the character was older than the actor I think) and also because dealing with the loss of his mentor is a great part of Daniel's character development. If the actor was still alive then dreams, flashbacks or hallucinations etc could be used for him. Similar to how "Koba" died in the 2nd of the new Planet of the Apes movies and still appeared several times in the 3rd movie (or Obi Wan in Star Wars).

Mr. Miyagi's shout is meant to yank Daniel out of despair. It made him a receptive student. The bow he gives his teacher is a thank you. Daniel does this particular kata to distract Barnes. His final position is a trap, patiently waiting for any attack. Barnes is forced to come in blindly, and Daniel simply flips him. I find this ending fits with the others. When Daniel is forced past his fears, the way to defeat his opponent becomes simple. Miyagi saying that he must not lose to fear is an understatement. The kata is really a centering technique, a gathering of all focus, energy, and willpower. They think he's crazy, but he's just calm. Great stuff.

You’d think after having fought for his life in Okinawa, against a true Karate master he’d go on the third one to take on a challenge where the stakes are higher, with a more dramatic arc, but fighting in the All Valley championship again… and with no fighting evolution after the experiences of the first 2. What a disappointment. I can’t stress enough how much I hated this movie. Pat Morita and Ralp Macchio were great, but the writing…. Absolutely lazy.
